2 Corinthians 13:5

December 26, 2004

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT)

Examine yourselves to see if your faith is really genuine. Test yourselves. If you cannot tell that Jesus Christ is among you, it means you have failed the test.

Examine Your Consecration

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?

Romans 12:1 (NLT)

Examine Your Consecration

 Are you dedicated to Him?

 Is all you have dedicated to Him?

 Is each part of your body committed to God for His service?

Romans 6:13, 16, 19

Romans 6:13 (NLT)

Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God.

Romans 6:16 (NLT)

Don’t you realize that whatever you choose to obey becomes your master? You can choose sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God and receive his approval.

Romans 6:19 (NLT)

I speak this way, using the illustration of slaves and masters, because it is easy to understand. Before, you let yourselves be slaves of impurity and lawlessness. Now you must choose to be slaves of righteousness so that you will become holy.

You Should Examine

Your Conduct

And you should follow my example, just as I follow Christ’s.

1 Corinthians 11:1 (NLT)

You Should Examine

Your Conduct

 How Is Your Home Life?

 How Is Your Social Life?

Ephesians 5:11

Ephesians 5:11 (NLT)

Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them.

You Should Examine

Your Conduct

 How is your home life?

 How is your social life?

 How do others view the way you live out your faith?

Ephesians 5:15-16

Ephesians 5:15-16 (NLT)

So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. [16] Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days.

Examine Your Influence

"You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. [14] You are the light of the world—like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. [15] Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all. [16] In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Matthew 5:13-16 (NLT)

Examine Your Influence

 Is your light shining?

Philippians 2:15

Philippians 2:15 (NLT)

So that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of crooked and perverse people. Let your lives shine brightly before them.

Examine Your Influence

 Is your light shining?

 What are you doing to make the Light within you visible?

Matthew 5:16

Matthew 5:16 (NLT)

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Examine Your Love

But if anyone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need and refuses to help—how can God’s love be in that person?

[18] Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions.

1 John 3:17-18 (NLT)

Examine Your Love

 Do people see it in your actions and character?

Examine Your Ideals

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

Romans 12:2 (NLT)

Examine Your Ideals

 What is God’s good and perfect will for your life?

Examine Your Attitude

If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I knew all the mysteries of the future and knew everything about everything, but didn’t love others, what good would I be? And if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, without love I would be no good to anybody.

1 Corinthians 13:2 (NLT)

Examine Your Attitude

 Toward Christ
