Ye shall not therefore oppress one another!

Leviticus 25:17 “Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God. 18. Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety. 19. And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.”

Don’t skip, read the above scriptures entirely, we have some lovely promises from God today for a sin-corroded, violence-infected and corruption-soaked society. Survival of the toughest, is the mantra today. The more you step on their shoes and trample them down your feet, then you are considered smart. You would be considered dumb and a moron if you are kind, compassionate and humble. Stinking politics is not found only in the corridors of the parliament house, but they have seeped into the corridors of Corporate Sectors, film industry, Sports ground, market places and also inside the church. Anybody listening?

As I walked into my new, cool, personal cabin as the personal Secretary of the CEO of a large public sector company, little did I know that the tsunami waves would engulf me in a short while. I got into the job of cleaning the cabin, which was in utter chaos; since I found a gum like substance leaking over the shelves of the cabin; with the help of the cleaner I got the place scrubbed and cleaned. After an hour or so, a smart girl – who had been assisting the CEO earlier – walked into my cabin and demanded for the honey bottle. Honey bottle? I smiled and said, ‘I did not find any honey bottle here but I just scrubbed the gum that was leaking all over the place.’ She did not smile back, but grimly said, ‘it was not gum but honey, I want it back.’ I had not even seen kids fight this way, by the way, she was a married woman with a kid. I managed to apologize and send her; but the nightmare continued for several days. The reason behind her hostile attitude was envy, disappointment and anger. India’s aggressive rise of power and the economic development is because of the IT sectors, software and call center/ BPO industries, many of the employees of these above companies are reading my devotions everyday and I know the competition, tension – hypertension – and rejections that they have to face every day. In the bargain, they become tough and groggy, because of crazy working hours, home turns into war zones. Listen to God today, He says, ‘keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety ‘; simply put, God says, ‘you don’t have to fear the world and get insecure, but fear me and feel secure.’ Oh, how wonderful! Am I making some sense? Are you grasping what I am saying?

Dear friends, I know what I am talking about, I have slogged like a dog and achieved nothing. Several years back. while working for the Chairman of a large Corporate Sector, I was asked to come to his home and collect some important papers, when I walked into the gate, his dog’s teeth caught hold of my leg and refused to leave. Do you want to know the reply I got from the Chairman’s office? Not to worry, the dog is vaccinated! I write this devotion with passion, because I know many of you are suffering today caught in the vicious corporate circle. Like the beastly king Pharaoh, the organizations are crushing life out of people, marriages are breaking, life of children are getting ruined, peace is lost and health is deteriorating; despite the fact that fat salaries are paid.

Let us not oppress one another, but obey God, trust Him in order to live a peaceful life.
