Sermons

Summary: "I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more" says our God to all the peoples. My faults are forgiven. My relationships are fixed. "No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know me

Pure Gospel

- "I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more"

- God to all the peoples

- My faults are forgiven

- My relationships are fixed

- "No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest"

- everybody sees, knows and understands

- the least can go upright

- the greatest humble themselves

- Heaven on earth

Biblical Timing

- When do people need a pure Gospel of that kind?

- When life is a mess

- Jeremiah’s situation: the divided houses, his lamentations 1: "4The roads to Zion mourn, for no one comes to the festivals;all her gates are desolate, her priests groan;her young girls grieve,*and her lot is bitter.5Her foes have become the masters, her enemies prosper, because the Lord has made hersuffer for the multitude of her transgressions;her children have gone away, captives before the foe."

- Quite like when Israel was in Egypt land

Personal Timing

- When do we need a pure Gospel of that kind?

- Talking about God’s faithfulness is crucial in time of transition

- Personal experience of slavery

- Personal experience of deportation

Covenant and Torah

- renewed covenant examples all over the Bible: Noah, Abraham, Isaak, Jacob, Mose - over and over again, true for Israel, all peoples and us

- free grace

- rules of love

Yet and not yet

- "The days are surely coming, says the Lord"

- Are we there yet?

- Yes: The ultimate renewal of God’s covenant took place through the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus

- The Law is fulfilled and God’s Holy Spirit is guiding our hearts according to his good will

- But it does not quite feel like heaven. Are we there yet?

- No: Because the game clock is still running

- "After those days" is still to come, these are the latter days and we know all people are latter-day saints

Christ’s second coming

- We are between the ages

- After Christ’s coming which is Christmas

- After Christ’s ascension when he returned to the heavens

- According to biblical timing he is scheduled to come back

- Then the Pure Gospel is going to become a visible reality

Pure Gospel

- Our iniquity is forgiven and our sin is remembered no more"

- My faults have been forgiven

- My relationships have been fixed

- everybody sees, knows and understands

- the least do go upright

- the greatest humble themselves

- Heaven on earth
