Summary: Worship is getting beyond our Praise ~ lifting of our hands... verbally Praising & Thanking God... Clapping... Singing...

INTRODUCTION: Verse 23, 24 ~ Yet a time is coming and has now come when the

true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the

kind of worshippers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and His worshippers

must worship in spirit and in truth.

Worship is getting beyond our Praise ~ lifting of our hands... verbally Praising &

Thanking God... Clapping... Singing...

Worship is getting into the Presence of God, NOT just only in church BUT out of

church... in our Daily Lives...

Worship means change. It means we say good-bye to some cherished but toxic

behaviors. We ask God to enable us to let go of the junk. W.E. - page 52

I. HOW WE COME

Hebrews 4:16 ~ Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,

so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Isaiah 6:8 ~ Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?

And who will go for us?” And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

~ I Samuel 3:1-10 ~

Moses, Paul, John the Baptist, David, Noah, Abraham, ...

II. OUR RULES / ATTITUDES

A. Hearts are not right (hypocrisy):

Matthew 15:7-9 - 7 “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied

about you; 8 ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men’ ”

“WE’VE NEVER DONE IT THAT WAY BEFORE!!”

We’ve NEVER Worshipped that way before!

I’ve NEVER Danced... I’ve NEVER Shouted... I’ve NEVER Jumped...

I’ve Never Raised my Hands... I’ve Never Did...

I DON’T WANT TO!!

B. Disobedience:

Leviticus 10:1,2 - 1 Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire

in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord,

contrary to His command. (God’s) 2 so fire came out from the presence of the

Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.

III. OUR GOD

Revelation 4:11 ~ Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:

for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Psalm 95:6-7 ~ 6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the

Lord our Maker; 7 for His is our God and we are the people of His pasture, and the

flock under His care.

Isaiah 59:2 ~ But your iniquities (sins) have separated you from your God; your

sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.

Hebrews 13:15 - Through Jesus, therefore, let us CONTINUALLY offer to God

a sacrifice of praise -- the fruit of lips that confess His Name.

CONCLUSION:

Romans 12:1,2 - There I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer

your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your SPIRITUAL

ACT OF WORSHIP. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of the world, but be

transformed by the renewing of your mind.

How in the world can we worship God in a way that is exciting and passionate and

moving if we do not know anything about Him?... How can the heart really respond to

that which it does not know?...

Hebrews 10:19-22 ~ Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter

the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us

through the curtain, that, His body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the

house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere hearts in full assurance of

faith, have our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our

bodies washed with pure water.
