When you read John 14:21 this is what Jesus said…

John 14:21

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

Jesus said that his followers show their love for him by obeying him. Love is more than lovely words; it is commitment and conduct. If you love Christ, this is what Jesus said… prove it by obeying what I say in my Word. How can we obey His Word? First of all, we need to have His Word then we will know His Word.

In many times we, Christians fail to obey God’s commands. Why is it? Why we fail all the time even thou we want to obey / even thou we have a desire to serve Him better? I believe that it is because we do not know His Word / His commands / His teachings. We never spend time with Him and with His Word.

How can we obey His Word? We need to have His Word so that we can know His Word and His will. Then how can we know His Word and His will? We need to spend time with Him. So basically if you don’t spend time with Him, you will not be able to know His Word and His will and if you don’t know and have His Word, you will not be able to obey His commands. Got it?

So spend time with Him every day. God wants to meet with you. He wants to talk to you, teach you tell you about who he is and how much he loves us and he is looking forward to His time alone with you! When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become a member of God’s family, a child of God. We can call God our Father. Any good parent wants to spend time with his or her children—sometimes with all of them together, but often with each one alone. That is how one person gets to know another person well—by spending time alone with that individual.

I do remember… one time when I was in high school, my dad took me to onchun (you know the spa that has hot mineral waters). Just me and my father… Even thou we were both naked I wasn’t ashamed of anything. He was my father. He saw me everything when I was a baby, right? Probably once a while he changed my diaper. I had nothing to hide from him because he is my father. I had a wonderful time talking to him / help each other to wash off the ddae. Just me and my father… We got to know each other by spending time like that.

The best way to get to know your heavenly Father is to spend time alone with Him. You can do this by reading His Word and by talking with Him in prayer. God speaks to us through the Bible, and we in turn can speak to Him through prayer.

This is why I asked you to read the book of John. John tells a lot of things about Jesus. First of all, Jesus is the Son of God. John states his purpose for writing in 20:31.

John 20:31

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Ancient Greek manuscripts of John have one of two tenses for the word “believe” (20:31): the aorist subjunctive and present subjunctive

• the aorist subjunctive (“that you might begin believing”)

• the present subjunctive (“that you might go on believing”)

If John intended the former, he wrote to convince unbelievers to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

If the latter, present subjunctive tense (“that you might go on believing”), John wrote to strengthen the foundations of faith so that believers might go on believing in spite of false teaching, and so enter fully into fellowship with the Father and the Son (cf. 17:3).

Whatever the reason is… John is telling us that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.

For unbelievers John is telling them to believe in Jesus and be saved.

For believers like you… John is also telling you that you need to strengthen the foundations of your faith so that you will go on believing no matter what happen.

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Believe that… then you will be saved.

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Believe that… then you will not be shaken! Amen! You will not be shaken because you have built you faith on the Rock and He is our Rock.
