A. The WORD of GOD is alive and powerful

"For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective];"

Isaiah 49:2 (Amplified Bible)

Powerful is energes in Greek, meaning active, operative, and effectual. The WORD of GOD is active, operative and effectual in our daily lives, if we only let GOD's WORDs do it's course on us.

B. The WORD of GOD is sharper than any two-edged sword

"it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature],"

If a physical sword, however sharp it is, can only divide the physical body at it's extreme, GOD's WORD as a sharper sword can divide the soul and the spirit.
