VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Under the Law, everything must be purified by blood

"In fact] under the Law almost everything is purified by means of blood,"

Leviticus 14:6 (Amplified Bible)

14:6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, the cedar wood, and the scarlet [material], and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird killed over the running water;

Leviticus 14:14 (Amplified Bible)

14:14 And the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt or trespass offering and put it on the tip of the right ear of him who is to be cleansed, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot.

Leviticus 14:51-52 (Amplified Bible)

14:51 And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet [material], and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times.

14:52 And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, the running water, the living bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop, and the scarlet [material].

Everything needs to be ceremonially clean in the old covenant and without blood, there's no cleansing. What the blood of animals covers the sin but can't cleanse it. It took the blood of JESUS for us to be cleansed.

B. Without the shedding of blood,

1. there's no release from sin - sin

2. there's no release from it's guilt - guilt

3. there's no remission of due and merited punishment - punishment

"and without the shedding of blood there is neither release from sin and its guilt nor the remission of the due and merited punishment for sins"

Leviticus 4:20 (Amplified Bible)

4:20 Thus shall he do with the bull; as he did with the bull for a sin offering, so shall he do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for [the people], and they shall be forgiven.

Leviticus 4:26 (Amplified Bible)

4:26 And he shall burn all its fat upon the altar like the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings; so the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.

Leviticus 17:11 (Amplified Bible)

17:11 For the life (the animal soul) is in the blood, and I have given it for you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life [which it represents].

Romans 3:24-26 (Amplified Bible)

3:24 [All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,

3:25 Whom God put forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment.

3:26 It was to demonstrate and prove at the present time (in the now season) that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has [true] faith in Jesus.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Thank You very much LORD JESUS, the GOD of Peace, for You have strengthened, completed and perfected me and You are the One who works in me to accomplish what pleases You.

Hebrews 13:20-21 (Amplified Bible)
