Summary: Faith is not optional, but an essential commodity in the kingdom of God. Without it, we can not fellowship with God.

Without Faith, it is Impossible to Please God

Study Text:

Hebrews 11:6

Introduction:

- Faith is the currency of the Kingdom. In God’s economy, nothing functions without it.

- Many people are busy in church activities yet are not pleasing God because activity without faith does not attract divine approval.

- Hebrews 11:6 makes it unmistakably clear: faith is not optional; it is essential.

- We shall be discussing the topic under three subheadings:

1. Faith Recognizes God's Reality

2. Faith Rests on God's Rewards

3. Faith Records Godly Responses

1. Faith Recognizes God's Reality

“…he that cometh to God must believe that He is…”

- Faith begins with a settled conviction that God exists and is actively involved in human affairs.

- This is more than intellectual agreement; it is spiritual consciousness. Faith recognizes that God is:

i. Present even when unseen

ii. Sovereign even when situations seem chaotic

iii. Alive and working even in silence

- Without this recognition, prayer becomes a ritual, worship becomes routine, and service becomes mechanical.

- Faith declares, “God is here, God is able, God is in control.” When we approach God with this conviction, our relationship with Him becomes personal, vibrant, and meaningful.

- Pleasing God starts with acknowledging His reality in every area of life.

2. Faith Rests in God's Rewards

“…and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

- Faith does not only believe that God exists; it trusts God’s character.

- To rest in God’s reward is to believe that God is good, faithful, and just. It means:

i. Trusting God’s timing even when answers delay

ii. Believing God’s promises even when circumstances contradict them

iii. Expecting God’s intervention because He never fails.

- Faith understands that obedience is never wasted, prayer is never ignored, and sacrifice is never forgotten.

- God rewards faith, not necessarily immediately, but certainly. Those who please God are those who trust Him enough to keep seeking, serving, and believing even when there is no visible evidence.

3. Faith Records Godly Responses

- Faith is never passive; it always produces action.

- Genuine faith moves people to obey God’s Word despite fear, opposition, or uncertainty.

i. Noah built the ark

ii. Abraham left his country

iii. The woman with the issue of blood pressed through the crowd

- Faith acts because it trusts God completely. When faith responds with obedience, God responds with power.

- Faith that pleases God is demonstrated, not merely declared.

- Our steps of obedience prove the authenticity of our faith and position us to experience God’s supernatural intervention.

Conclusion:

- Faith recognizes God’s reality, rests in God’s reward, and records godly responses.

- This is the faith that pleases God. Without it, prayer is powerless, worship is empty, and service is fruitless. But with faith, we align ourselves with heaven and release God’s hand upon our lives.
