Summary: THE TONGUE FULL OF GOD'S WORD IS POWERFUL.
WISE WORDS AND WISE MEN
OBSERVATION: THE PREACHER (PROBABLY SOLOMON) EXPOUNDS ON THE MERITS OF THE TEACHINGS OF ONE SHEPHERD. THIS APPLIES TO THE SHEPHERD OF OUR SOULS, JESUS CHRIST.
INTERPRETATION: ECCLESIASTES 12: 11 (NKJV) THE WORDS OF THE WISE ARE LIKE GOADS, AND THE WORDS OF SCHOLARS ARE LIKE WELL-DRIVEN NAILS, GIVEN BY ONE SHEPHERD. ECCLESIASTES 12: 11 (THE BOOK) A WISE TEACHER’S WORDS SPUR STUDENTS TO ACTION AND EMPHASIZE IMPORTANT TRUTHS. THE COLLECTED SAYING OF THE WISE ARE LIKE GUIDANCE FROM A SHEPHERD.
GOD GIVES WISDOM TO BELIEVERS FOR GUIDANCE. THE WRITER USES A PASTORAL METAPHOR TO MAKE HIS POINT. THE SHEPHERD OF YOUR SOUL, GOD, PRODS OR GOADS YOU ALONG USING A SHARP POINTED STICK (A GOAD). THE EMBEDDED NAILS PROBABLY DESCRIBE NAILS DRIVEN INTO THE WALLS OF A STRUCTURE. YOU CAN “HANG” YOUR CHRISTIAN WALK ON THESE NAILS. THE GOOD SHEPHERD OF YOUR SOUL IS STABLE, FIXED AND DEPENDABLE!
WHAT BELONGS TO SAINTS, APPLIES TO SAINTS: WHAT BELONGS TO THE LOST APPLIES TO THE LOST. ALL BELIEVERS MUST BE MINISTERS OF CHRIST (1 PETER 2:5 AND 2:9), THEREFORE, YOU MUST PROCLAIM CHRIST.
JOB 6:25 (NKJV) HOW FORCEFUL ARE RIGHT WORDS! BUT WHAT DOES YOUR ARGUING PROVE? JOB LISTENED IN SILENCE TO THE WORDS OF TRUTH AND FELT THE POWER OF TRUTH: HE WAS NOT CONVINCED THAT HIS “ADVISERS” HELD THE ANSWERS TO HIS QUESTIONS.
ISAIAH 50:4 (NKJV) THE LORD GOD HAS GIVEN ME THE TONGUE OF THE LEARNED, THAT I SHOULD KNOW HOW TO SPEAK A WORD IN SEASON TO HIM WHO IS WEARY. HE AWAKENS ME MORNING BY MORNING; HE AWAKENS MY EAR TO HEAR AS THE LEARNED. (WARREN WIERSBE) THE TONGUE, APPROPRIATELY FILLED BY THE WORD FOR MINISTRY IS THE PRODUCT OF THE EAR FILLED WITH THE WORD. THIS SPEAKS TO DISCIPLES OF CHRIST.
APPLICATION: YOUR TONGUE FILLED WITH THE WORD OF GOD IS A POWERFUL MINISTRY TOOL!
