Youth Sermon: Wisdom in Marriage

Be helpful to one another

You know how in team sports, you have to work together to win? It's the same in relationships. Proverbs tells us that a good partner is like a treasure. That means we should put others before ourselves. Remember how Jesus did that for us? He gave up His life because He loves us. That's the kind of love we should show in our relationships - not just saying we love someone, but showing it through our actions.

Imagine you're on a basketball team, and you're the only one who ever gets to shoot the ball. That wouldn't be very fun for the rest of the team, would it? In the same way, a relationship where only one person is doing all the giving isn't healthy or fair.

That's the kind of love we should show in our relationships - not just saying we love someone, but showing it through our actions.

Avoid comparing your relationships to others

It's easy to look at other people's relationships and think they're better than ours. But no relationship is perfect. Instead of wishing we had what someone else has, we should work on making our own relationships better. Remember what first attracted you to your friend or partner, and focus on that.

Seek guidance when needed

Sometimes, we think we should handle everything on our own. But Proverbs tells us that without guidance, we're more likely to mess up. God gave us His Word and prayer to help us, but He also gave us people who can offer support and wisdom. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
