Summary: Wisdom is a character quality that is developed by decision not by education.

Wisdom comes from the Anglo-Saxon root word “wis” which means wise, understanding, truth, and knowing. It is also combined with the word “dom” which implies judgement. Wisdom is not just mere intelligence. Wisdom is a combining of an understanding of truth with the good judgement to apply that truth. Wisdom is not just a wealth of information. It is application of truth. Wisdom is an unwavering commitment to truth applied in practical life. The truth test of wisdom is works, not words.

Wisdom is a character quality that is developed by decision not by education. Nothing wrong with education as long it is based on truth and morals. Many have education but not wisdom. Psalm 19:7 and Proverbs 10:14. Wisdom focuses on application. It is learned in the field, in practical everyday circumstances of life. Wisdom is rare today because it requires an attitude of humility. One particularly important aspect of wisdom is understanding the importance and worth of one’s time. Fifteen traits of a wise person.

I. They are Attentive and Regard Instruction.

III. They Accept and Receive God’s Wisdom.

V. They Appease the Wrath of Others.

1. Proverbs 16:14, the only time pacify is used in the bible.

2. To pardon, purge and put off.

VI. They Restrain from Arguing with Foolish Men.

2. Do you argue a lot?

VII. They Adhere and Respect God’s Word.

1. Matthew 7:24

2. Do you practice Bible truths in your life?

VIII. They Refrain from Speaking their Mind at the Wrong Time.

IX. They have Righteous Attitudes and Actions.
