Winds And Sea Obey Jesus

Summary: The storms of life will either draw you closer to the Lord or further away. How about you?
Even the winds and the sea obey Him!
Mathew 8:26, 27 “But He said to them, “why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, even the winds and the sea obey Him?”.
I like the words, “the men marveled”! Jesus is a marvelous God indeed! Wow, imagine how the disciples would have felt when the raging sea just stopped, became silent and the wind became still! The Bible says “there was great calm”. Today if you are going through crisis in your life, this message is for you. The Bible says “suddenly a great tempest arose…”. And that’s just how the storms of life come, isn’t it?! One minute the sun is shining, and the next the lightning is flashing, thunder booming, and the winds and the waves go wild. The phone rings and in seconds your life is changed, you’re in the midst of a storm. Doctor visits, job hunt becomes routine, you’re in a terrible storm! When your boss calls you into the office, or when you open that health report, storms arise suddenly and violently, and without warning.
During one of my ministry trip to a village I experienced in an awesome way, the miracle working Hand of God. We had to travel nearly five hours by road to reach the village and we had left our house at 4 am early in the morning. On the said day while we were traveling to the village, it suddenly started raining heavily. We were continuously receiving phone calls from the pastors who were organizing the meeting because the venue of the meeting was wet due to the rains and even the roof of the meeting hall was leaking. We kept encouraging them to keep praying and doing all they could. We were not able to shift the venue of the meeting because we had no other option. Finally when we arrived at the venue of the meeting, the entire surrounding area was wet, muddy and it was still raining. We somehow struggled to get into the venue. We were shocked to see that the hall did not have a concrete roofing but they had put up a temporary thick material as roofing which could not withstand the rain and it was leaking in many places. The organizers had not expected rain on that day because it was summer season. The floor was wet, the mats were wet and soggy, the chairs were all soaked with water. We were just wondering what to do! But I should tell you something here, in the midst of the rain, people had come for the meeting and none of them had left the venue!! The organizers started the worship and we kept looking at God to do a miracle. The mike was handed over to my husband and as we all continued to worship Him, God did a miracle. He stretched out His Hand and stopped the rain! The clouds cleared, the rays of the sun hit the roof, the floor dried, fresh mats were laid and within a short time, there were no traces of the previous rain at all. Incredible indeed! Astounding are His works! God stopped the rain and changed the circumstances! Glory to Jesus!
