This sermon explores understanding, obeying, and living out God's will, following Jesus' example of submission and trust in God's plan.

Introduction

Good morning, family! It's wonderful to be here with you all today. We're about to get into something really special. You know, we often find ourselves wondering about God's will for our lives. What does He want from us? How do we know if we're on the right track?

Now, I want to share a quote with you. It's from a man named A.W. Tozer, a pastor and author who had a lot of wisdom to share about walking with God. He once said, "Outside of the will of God, there's nothing I want. Inside of the will of God, there's nothing I fear." Isn't that something? That's the kind of faith and trust we're going to talk about today.

Understanding the Will of God

The words of Jesus in Mark 14:36 give us a glimpse into the heart of our Savior. He is in the Garden of Gethsemane, facing the reality of the cross, and He prays, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Remove this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will."

That's Jesus talking, folks. Even in his most desperate hour, he was focused on aligning his will with God's. That's a powerful example for us to follow. We're going to look at what it means to understand God's will, to obey even when it's tough, and to live in a way that reflects our commitment to His will.

Now, let's look at this idea of surrender a little closer. When we talk about surrender, we often think of it as giving up or losing. But in the kingdom of God, surrender is the path to victory. It's the way we align ourselves with God's plan and purpose. It's the way we say, "Not my will, but Yours be done."

Jesus shows us that surrender is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. It's a sign of trust in the Father's plan. It's a sign of obedience, even in the face of suffering and death. This is the kind of surrender that leads to resurrection and life.

But surrender is a daily choice. Each day, we have to choose to surrender our will to God's. Each day, we have to choose to trust in His plan and purpose. Each day, we have to choose to say, "Not my will, but Yours be done." It’s not always easy. It requires faith and a willingness to let go of our plans and desires and to embrace God's. But it's in this daily surrender that we find the peace and joy that comes from living in the center of God's will.

Now, let's consider what it means to trust in God's plan and purpose. Trust is not a feeling. It's a choice. It's a decision to believe that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. When we trust in God, we are saying that we believe His plan is best. We are saying that we believe He is good, even when life is hard. We are saying that we believe He is in control, even when things seem out of control. This kind of trust is not without reward. When we trust in God, we find peace in the midst of the storm. We find strength in the midst of weakness. We find hope in the midst of despair.
