Summary: In this sermon, we'll explore few biblical examples that reveal why our faith may not be working.

As Christians, we're often encouraged to have faith in God's power and promises. However, there may be times when our faith seems to be ineffective. In this sermon, we'll explore few biblical examples that reveal why our faith may not be working.

1. Lack of Conviction (Matthew 14:31)

Jesus rebuked Peter for his lack of faith when he began to sink while walking on water. Peter's faith wavered because he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the circumstances. Lesson: Our faith must be rooted in conviction, not circumstances.

2. Unforgiveness (Mark 11:25)

Jesus taught that unforgiveness can hinder our faith. When we harbor resentment and bitterness, we create a barrier between ourselves and God. Lesson: Forgiveness is essential for effective faith.

3. Doubt and Fear (Matthew 14:30)

Peter's fear and doubt caused him to sink. When we allow fear and doubt to dominate our thoughts, our faith is weakened. Lesson: We must learn to cast our fears and doubts aside, trusting in God's power and promises.

4. Disobedience (Hebrews 3:18-19)

The Israelites' disobedience prevented them from entering the Promised Land. When we disobey God's commands, we can expect our faith to be ineffective. Lesson: Obedience is crucial for faith to work.

5. Wrong Motives (James 4:3)

When we pray with wrong motives, our faith is hindered. James warns that when we ask with selfish or impure motives, we shouldn't expect to receive anything from God. Lesson: Our motives must be pure and aligned with God's will.

6. Lack of Perseverance (Luke 18:1-8)

The parable of the persistent widow teaches us that faith requires perseverance. When we give up too easily, our faith is weakened. Lesson: We must continue to pray and trust God, even when answers seem delayed.

7. Ignorance of God's Word (Hosea 4:6)

When we lack knowledge of God's Word, our faith can be misinformed or misguided. Hosea warns that God's people perish for lack of knowledge. Lesson: We must study and apply God's Word to develop a strong, effective faith

What Jesus say about faith ?

1. Faith as a Mustard Seed (Matthew 17:20)

"He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'"

2. Faith and Unbelief (Mark 9:23-24)

"'If you can'?" said Jesus. 'Everything is possible for one who believes.' Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, 'I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!'"

3. The Power of Faith (Matthew 9:22)

"Jesus turned and saw her. 'Take heart, daughter,' he said, 'your faith has healed you.'"

4. Faith and Works (Matthew 7:21-23)

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"

5. Faith and Prayer (Mark 11:22-24)

"'Have faith in God,' Jesus answered. 'Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.'"

In conclusion, our faith may not be working due to various reasons, including lack of conviction, unforgiveness, doubt, disobedience, wrong motives, lack of perseverance, and ignorance of God's Word. By recognizing and addressing these issues, we can strengthen our faith and experience the power of God in our lives.
