Summary: ABORTION – A POEM From the Baby's Perspective They don't know I can hear them, as they argue once again. My Mom and Dad are yelling, saying, 'what if it's a sin?' I hear my Father pacing, as he walks across the room, But, I am safe and cozy here inside my Mother's womb.

Abortion in America:

History of Abortion in America

In America, abortion was legal from the 1600’s to the 1800’s. Connecticut was the first state to make abortion illegal in 1821. Violation of that law was not without punishment. During those times, people found many ways to conduct abortions including tightening their girdles, taking abortion pills, herbal drinks, poisons, needles, and self-inflicted injuries to force miscarriages. In 1973, abortion was legalized in America and that law is in force up to now. It was Dr, Martin Luther King jr who said concerning laws, “One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that “an unjust law is no law at all.” The Christian Church has always grappled with the issue of abortion. In terms of Church history, as early 306 AD the council of Elvira in modern Spain, Nineteen bishops and twenty-six priests agreed that: "If a woman conceives in adultery and then has an abortion, she may not commune again, even as death approaches, because she has sinned twice."

In 692 AD in Constantinople, 215 oriental bishops agreed that: "Those who give drugs for procuring abortion, and those who receive poisons to kill the foetus, are subjected to the penalty of murder."

Around 370 AD Basil: "Let her that procures abortion undergo ten years' penance, whether the embryo were perfectly formed, or not."

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that: Life begins in the Womb

1) Psalm 139:13 For you have possessed my reins: you have covered me in my mother's womb.

2) Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

3) Isaiah 49:1 Listen, O isles, to me; and listen, you people, from far; The LORD has called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother has he made mention of my name.

4) Luke 1:44 For, see, as soon as the voice of your salutation sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

5) Job 31:15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?

6) Psalm 127:3 Children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

7) Exodus 21:22-25 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

Science proves unquestionably When Life Begins. According to Dr. Maureen Condic, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Neurobiology, in a June 11, 2014 article that discusses the difference between cells and organisms concludes that human life begins at sperm-egg fusion. God made us from the earth, He made the heavens and the earth from nothing. We began in the heart and mind of God according to Genesis 1:7 Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
