Summary: No cross no life no Jesus no heaven

WHY WAS CHRIST LIFTED UP?

Christ being lifted up on the cross was of his own will he became a substitution atonement for all who believe on his name

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

A. He became our substitute.

Romans 5: 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

B.HE LIFTED HIMSELF UP TO BECOME OUR REDEEMER.

Galatians 3: 13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

C.HE LIFTED HIMSELF UP TO BECOME OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

1st Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

D. HE LIFTED HIMSELF UP THAT WE MIGHT HAVE HIS PEACE

Ephesians 2: 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Motivated by a loving Father. (John 3:16)

Necessitated by sinful man (Col. 1:21)

Executed by a Faithful Son. ( John 10 :17-18)
