Why This Mission? Series
Contributed by Doug Gregory on May 11, 2008 (message contributor)
Summary: Part three and the final in the series Mission Possible. Why should you accept this mission?
RECAP of week one and 2:
The church is the body of Christ
To become a member of the body, you must make Christ the head! In order for this to happen you must realize there is…
Universal SIN: Romans 3:9-23
Universal SAVIOR: Romans 3:24-31
Universal REQUIREMENT: John 14:1-6
Individual RESPONSE: Romans 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-10
Psalm 51; John 3; 1 John, Romans 8, Romans 12
We ALL have individual and corporate missions!
Our Individual Mission as a Believer is to go, make disciples, baptize, and teach with our life and speech! (Matthew 28:19-20) Our Corporate Mission as a church is to build relationships, conduct worship, incorporate fellowship, and continue discipleship.
Today, we will answer the two final questions about the mission; however, we have only touched the surface of our mission. Remember that “Education without perspiration means there is no application.” Turn with me to 2 Peter 3.
Read and Pray…
The question we are faced with today is, “Why should I accept this mission?”
I have 3 reasons for you to accept this mission.
1. Because of God’s Promises. 2 Peter 3:1-8
God always keeps His promises. In fact, when God makes a promise, it is as good as done. He promised to return. He promised to judge. He promised to recreate.
2. Because of God’s Plan. 2 Peter 3:9-10
We need to respond with His plan in mind.
3. Because of God’s Priorities. 2 Peter 3:10-14
All we have is temporal… even the ground we are walking on!
How can we accomplish this “Mission”?
Because of God’s Power. Acts 1:8
