Summary: The Lord uses symbols in the Bible narratives as instruments to reveal certain truths about the Lord God.

The Benefits of studying biblical symbols:

I. First, symbols can help the saints with a better understanding of the nature and characteristics of the living God.

II. Biblical symbols have the power of evoking thousands of words in a believer's mind.

III. They allow the believer to see spiritual truth with the eyes of the spirit.

IV. Thus, biblical symbolism contains forms and types that can reveal things hidden in nature, works, and the names of God.

V. They are very useful in authenticating the revelation of the workings of God.

VI. The Bible uses them to show certain things the Lord cannot explain by word of mouth.

For this reason, the Lord uses symbols to reveal the truth in virtual form. Symbols act as pictures speaking mysteries so the believer can understand spiritual truth. Symbols say 'See my works" to understand what I look like. Thus, the Lord allows symbols in the Bible narratives as instruments to reveal certain truths about the Lord God. They are used to reveal some of the fearful characteristics of the nature of God the Father, Jesus our Lord, and the Holy Spirit.

Even so, the Bible used many forms of speech, hyperboles, symbols, and other types in expressing spiritual truth. Therefore, biblical symbols are more of a figurative form of speech without parabolic elements. Symbols are used to form a visual image in the mind of the believers. Symbols help to open the understanding of the believer to accurately discern the nature of the Spirit of God.

Consequentially, biblical symbols are drawn from the world of nature since man is earthly and identifies and correspondence with nature. These natural elements are things everyone can easily identify with nature. That is the reason the Lord used familiar elements on earth to describe certain things about Himself.

Therefore, the Bible uses many symbolic forms to describe the person and works of the Holy Spirit. They are also used in disclosing the purpose of God. The Bible used them as instruments to guide our imagination to apprehend truth. The use of symbols can draw us closer to Him since they are used to describe the person, presence, and the nature of the Spirit of God.

However, behind all the biblical symbols are meanings hidden deep concerning the nature and workings of God. For the Lord used all these symbols as types, and similitudes in His wisdom to convey the truth hidden in the mysteries.

Therefore, when symbols are rightly interpreted, believers can understand more of the nature of God. Symbols are so indispensable in understanding the person of the Holy Spirit.
