Summary: WHY SAINTS REJOICE

Psalm 33:1-22 WHY SAINTS REJOICE

I. They Rejoice In His Work

i. The Nature of The Singers - 1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous:

for praise is comely for the upright.

ii. The Nature of The Singing - 2 Praise the Lord with harp:

sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

iii. The Nature of The Song - 3 Sing unto him a new song;

play skilfully with a loud noise.

2. They Rejoice In His Word

i. His Word Is Precious - 4 For the word of the Lord is right;

Ps119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path

ii. His Word Is Personal - 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment:

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

iii. His Word Is Powerful - 6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

3. They Rejoice In His Will

i. His Will Is Dominant - 10 The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. "Man proposes and God disposes." Ps 115:3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased

ii. His Will Is Determined -

11 The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

Dan 4:34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35 and all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

iii. His Will Is Desirable - 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

4. They Rejoice In His Watch

i. It's Absolute -

13 The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do

ii. It's Acute - 16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

iii. It's Affectionate - 18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19 to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine

Why should I feel discouraged, Why should the shadows come

Why should my heart feel lonely, And long for heaven and home

When Jesus is my portion, A constant friend is he

His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches over me

His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me

I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free

His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me
