Why Praise The Lord?

1 Praise the LORD.

Praise God in his sanctuary;

praise him in his mighty heavens.

2 Praise him for his acts of power;

praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,

praise him with the harp and lyre,

4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,

praise him with the strings and flute,

5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,

praise him with resounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD.

Hallelujah!!!

Praise the Lord!!!

Isn’t it great to come together to night to Praise the Lord!

To praise him for each other.

To praise him for the baptisms we saw earlier

and to praise him for last night..(I heard it was a great night last night).

Praise the Lord.

And there are many things that we can Praise Him for.

Just think of all the good things that have happened to you, that you can see or are part of your life.

Sometimes when we are experiencing good things in our lives the problem we have is remembering these come from God.

Remember, ‘Everything that is good comes from God’ (James 1:17).

And when things are going well?

When life’s good.

When you think of all the good things God has done.

It’s only natural isn’t it, to praise the Lord?

Why shouldn’t we be celebrating?

Why shouldn’t we be praising the Lord, as Psalm 150 calls us to do?

Why shouldn’t we be doing it every Sunday?

Every day in our homes, workplaces, schools and uni’s, even in McDonalds?

We should never stop remembering that EVERYTHING GOOD COME FROM GOD

Well if you are anything like me,

there are some days that I just don’t feel like it…

Ever felt like that? (pause)

There are some days when I feel;

run down,

warn out,

battered,

exhausted,

that the entire world is against me

and nothing seems to go right.

Not only do I not feel like praising God.

But often during these times I feel that God has let me down.

Ever felt like that?

Feeling that God has forgotten me

and I feel deserted.

So instead of Praising God,

from the bottom of my heart, I just want to scream at Him.

Asking him,

WHY has he left me alone?

Why am I stuck in this situation?

And God what are you going about it?

What are you going to do for me?

Anyone have moments like these??

Well your not alone check out some of the other Psalms like Psalm 22, which begins:

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?

O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silenced.

Rather than wanting to praise God,

you may feel that He needs to be questioned,

even be cursed!

Or At least He needs to prove himself that He deserves your praise, because at that point in our lives,

we have forgotten not only about all the good things that God has done and will do for us,

even though many of them are right under our noses,

it is times like these that we can’t see a single thing to praise God for.

Yet Psalm 150 says….Come Praise the Lord

So why should we Praise the Lord?…………

Do we just do it blindly, hoping that if he will do something good for us?

Well verse 2 says he has already done some good, something great for us?

Listen again to verse 2.

Praise him.

Praise him for his acts of power!

Praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Or as the New King James version says

Praise Him for His mighty acts!

Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

You might be still saying hold on a moment.

I don’t see his acts of power in MY life.

I don’t see his acts of power in this world.

People I love are still sick still, still dying.

I don’t have enough money to live on, let alone some left over to enjoy life.

You maybe feeling that some of your relationships are a mess.

So where are these mighty acts?

Where can I find out about these mighty acts?

How can anyone say He is so great?

At this point in time it is precisely the time to step back, to look at the big picture.

Look at Psalm 18 verse 28 that says

“You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning;

my God turns my darkness into light.”

Look at the great things has God done?

And where do we find this?

In your own life,

looking at our own lives,

particularly at this point in time
