Why It’s Important to Attend Church
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. – Hebrews 10:25
1. To be fed the God’s Word
a. You cannot rely on basic Christianity all your life
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. – Hebrews 5:13
b. You must grow stronger as a Christian
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby – 1 Peter 2:2
2. Exhort One another (comfort one another)
a. Be considerate of each other in love
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. – Hebrews 10:23-25
i. We need to respect each other and those in authority over us
1. Be considerate when you are sitting in church
2. Pay attention when the pastor is speaking…don’t talk
ii. Remember, as teenagers we must work to show adults that we are not the typical teenager in the world
b. Hold each other accountable
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. – James 5:16
3. To Worship our God
a. Everyone worships something
i. Boyfriend or Girlfriend
ii. Car
iii. Computer or the Internet
iv. Video Games
v. Anything that takes your focus from God
b. Worship is more than just singing
i. Worship is anything that bring glory and honor to God
ii. Obeying your parents
iii. Witnessing
iv. Tithing
v. Respecting others
c. Worship is a lifestyle
i. We should live a life of worship everyday
ii. God calls us a peculiar people…We should stand out in a crowd to where our friends know there’s something about us that’s different.
