Summary: The third Person in the Trinity, God the Holy Spirit
Why is the Holy Spirit is the most important thing that a person must possess in this world?
According to the Bible, Holy Spirit resembles the form of dove. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person in the Trinity, the first being God The Father, the second God The Son represented by our Lord Jesus Christ and the third is God The Holy Spirit. One God in three distinct Persons, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son.
Each person is fully God, sharing the same divine essence, yet they are different in relations and roles. Bible describes the Holy Spirit as The Helper, The Comforter, The Spirit Of Truth. Other names and titles given to the Holy Spirit by the Bible are: Spirit of God, Spirit of the Lord, Spirit of Christ, Spirit of Wisdom, Spirit of Understanding, Spirit of Knowledge, Spirit of Fear of the Lord, Spirit of Counsel, Spirit of Might and Eternal Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God itself, only It is in the form of a Spirit.
Why is the Holy Spirit the most important thing that anyone must have in this world if they want to go to heaven?
• Because an individual is saved and can go to heaven only by the aid of the Holy Spirit.
• Because almost everyone desires to go to heaven someday, for people naturally long for peace, joy, and eternal life, hoping for a better life after death. It’s a longing God placed in human heart as written in Ecclesiastes 3:11. It’s a desire for something beyond this life, even for those who don’t fully believe in God or follow Jesus.
• Because no one truly wants to suffer in hell, which is a place of judgment, separation from God, and eternal torment.
Why is the Holy Spirit the only one that can save a person and go to heaven?
• Because to receive the Holy Spirit, a person needs to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of their sins, as written in Acts 2:38, that says: “Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
• Because a person cannot believe Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and repent sincerely without the aid of the Holy Spirit as explained in John 16:8.
• Because a person cannot be guaranteed access into God’s kingdom, and be sealed for heaven without the help of the Holy Spirit as written in Ephesians 1:13-14.
Why is the Holy Spirit the only one that can spiritually change a person’s heart and character to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and repent sincerely so he can enter God’s kingdom?
• Because no one can enter the kingdom of God unless their mind and inner heart is converted and transformed spiritually as explained in John 3:5
• Because no one can be saved apart from the Holy Spirit’s work in their heart. Salvation is not just about agreeing intellectually with the gospel, but it’s about a spiritual transformation that only the Holy Spirit can produce, as clarified in John 3:5-6.
• Because without the Holy Spirit, a person cannot please God, for the simple reason that true submission and obedience to God is impossible, and the desire to follow God is planted and cultivated by the Holy Spirit, this was explained in Romans 8:7-8.
• Because no one comes to God without the Holy Spirit’s drawing, for the Holy Spirit softens the heart as explained in John 6:44.
• Because the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin and draws them towards repentance as explained in John 16:8.
• Because the Holy Spirit regenerates the heart, making the person spiritually alive as explained in Titus 3:5.
A person cannot respond to God without divine help, without the aid of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, a person is in the state of spiritual death. And spiritual death means separation from God or separation from the Holy Spirit, and you will not be able to seek Him because you are spiritually separated. If you are separated from the Holy Spirit, there is no power to overcome sin; and as a result, there is no assurance of everlasting life in heaven.
Human will and effort to become spiritually minded are not enough no matter how much they try. They are considered futile without the aid of the Holy Spirit. Having a spiritual heart and mind is the key in entering heaven, and spiritual heart and mind can only be produced by the aid of the Holy Spirit. Because no power on earth can transform and convert a person’s mind and inner heart to turn to God and turn away from sin, so they can go to heaven someday without the help of the Holy Spirit; for the Holy Spirit is deeply personal and transformative, He is the only one who can transform and convert a person for a better personality and renewed character traits to live according to God’s will. Not by human willpower, religion, laws, emotions, or even preaching can truly transform a man spiritually, and convert a person’s heart and mind to turn to God, create true repentance to turn from sin, live in obedience to God, be made fit in heaven, except by the power of the Holy Spirit, because spiritual change is only by God’s work, not by human effort. That is why Christians need to pray for the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts and minds, and also for the lives of others, especially for their loved ones.
