WHY IS IT SO HARD TO DO THE RIGHT THING?

Text: Romans 7:14-25

Intro: The church sign at White Springs Baptist church has this on it.

1. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR PERSON WHO IS NOT SAVED TO DO THE RIGHT THING?

A) Satan is against them.

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Lu 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Re 12:12 ¶ Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

SATAN HATES ALL PEOPLE

B) Society is against you.

1. Our schools are teaching students to sin.

1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

2. Most people think it’s alright to drink alcohol.

Pr 20:1 ¶ Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Pr 23:31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

3. Most think it’s alright to shack up.

Ex 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Pr 6:32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

4. Abortion

THESE ARE THE THINGS SOCIETY SAYS ARE RIGHT.

C) Self is against you.

1. THE WORST PERSON YOU WILL EVER FACE IS THE ONE YOU SEE IN A MIRROR

2. MOST LOST PEOPLE HAVE THE ATTITUDE “IT IS ALL ABOUT ME”

** If it feels good do it.

** As long as I don’t get hurt.

3. Most people think they are all right and will go to heaven.

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

2. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR THE SAVED PERSON TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

** SAVED PEOPLE MESS UP JUST LIKE EVERY BODY ELSE.

1. We still have our own lusts.

Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

** When a saved person does wrong it’s not because God turned his back on them.

LUST- epithumia, ep-ee-thoo-mee’-ah - a longing (especially for what is forbidden):--concupiscence, desire, lust (after).

** Not all about sex.

** Your lust might be to be over the choir.

Money- Working over time and missing church

Position- Hurt another to get what you want

2. Our lips keep us from doing what is right.

Jas 3:1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

3 Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

NO BODY WILL ADMIT TO HAVING THIS ONE.

Ps 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

GUILE-mirmah, meer-maw’ - in the sense of deceiving; fraud:--craft, deceit(-ful, -fully), false, feigned, guile, subtilly, treachery.

Mt 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

C) Laziness keeps us from doing what’s right.
