WHY DIDN’T GOLIATH ATTACK?

Text: 1 Samuel 17:1-11

Intro: Go over the story.

The two armies had set up camp, one on the one side of the hill at Shochoh.

Shochoh belonged to the Children of Israel (The enemy was in their land just like Satan) Vs1

Goliath had a 1).Helmet of brass,2) Coat of mail,3) Greaves of brass on his legs,4) A target of brass between his shoulders,5) A staff like a weavers beam,6) His spear head.

Coat weighted 156lb

His spear head weighted between 18 & 25lb

He had 6 different things to protect him 6 is the number of man.( On the sixth day God made man)

**David had already been anointed King.

**David came back to the camp to bring hid brothers food.

** David heard the giant defy his God.

** David wanted to know who was going to fight this enemy.

** David said I will go and fight him and they laughed at him.

** He told King Saul I killed a bear and a lion and I will kill this enemy.

** King Saul gave David his armor but it did not fit him David said I have not proved these.

**David went to a brook and got 5 smooth stones. (5 is the number of grace and with Gods grace you can defeat the enemy) Greater is he that is in me!

**David ran toward the enemy the whole Philistine army Vs 48.

** David killed the giant and cut off his head with his own sword.

** David used what he had and killed the enemy and God supplied the sword to cut off his head.

THAT IS THE STORY OF DAVID AND GOLIATH BUT THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT STORIES WITH IN THIS STORY JUST LIKE I HAVE ALREADY SHOWN BUT FOR THIS SERMON I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE START.

THE CHILDREN OD ISRAEL HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THEIR GOD.

I. They had forgotten about being saved out of Egypt (Tell about)

II. They forgot about the victories when they came into the Promised Land.

Jericho, Ai (They did go back and win the victory), Gibeon, Makkedah,

III. They forgot about all the victories in the book of the Judges

Gideon’s victory with only 300

Samson’ victories

** THEY LOST THE ARK BECAUSE THEY GOT AWAY FROM GOD.

King Saul never tried to get the ark back.

IN THE 11 VERSES WE READ YOU NEVER SEE ONE PRAYER PRAYED.

THEY FORGOT ABOUT GOD!

They were trusting in their own self just like some hear today.

THE TITLE OF THIS SERMON IS WHY DIDN’T, GOLIATH ATTACK.

**He was almost 10 feet tall, stronger than any other, so why did he not just go on over and kill them?

THEY HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT GOD BUT THE ENEMY HAD NOT!

Some of us forget God but Satan has never forgotten about God.

1. SATAN HAS NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT CREATION.

SATAN HAS NOT FORGOTTEN CREATION HE SAW GODS POWER IN ACTION.

2. SATAN HAS NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT BEING CAST OUT OF HEAVEN.

Lu 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Isaiah 14 12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

**Like we just read.

GOD THREW HIM OUT

** He thought he could take my God off his Throne

3. SATAN HAS NOT FORGOTTEN CALVARY.

4. SATAN HAS NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE CHURCH.

Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

WHY DID SATAN NOT KILL YOU WHEN YOU GOT DOWN AND FORGOT ABOUT GOD?

GIVE EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH.

WHEN YOU BACKSLIDE ON GOD WHY DIDN’T, SATAN KILL YOU.
