Summary: This marvelous passage gives us the insight in regards to the ordinance of Baptism
“Why Do We Need To Baptize?”
Romans 6:3-4
A. Because it enables us to IDENTIFY with Christ in His death and resurrection. (v. 3) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:27; 1 Peter 3:21; Acts 2:38, 41; 8:12, 36-39; 9:10-18; 10:28-48; 16:14-15, 31-34; 18:8; 19:5; 22:16; Ephesians 4:5; Hebrews 6:2; Matthew 7:21; 10:32-33; Luke 6:46; 12:8-9
B. Because it ILLUSTRATES for us Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. (v. 4a) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father Romans 6:5, 8; 8:11; Galatians 2:20-21; Colossians 2:12-13; 3:1-3; 1 Corinthians 6:14; 2 Corinthians 13:4; Ephesians 1:19-20; 2:5-6
C. Because of it’s necessary IMPLICATION as to what we are now in Christ. (v. 4b) even so we also should walk in newness of life Romans 6:12-13, 19; 7:6; 12:1-2; 13:13-14; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 6:15-16; Ephesians 2:10; 4:17, 22-24; 5:8; Philippians 3:17-21; Colossians 1:9-12; 2:11-13; 3:8-10; 1 Peter 4:1-2; 2 Peter 1:4-9; 1 John 2:6; Titus 2:11-12
