Summary: The gift of all gifts

WHY CHRIST GAVE HIMSELF

Gal. 1: 4Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

1.To bring glory in doing the fathers will.

Eph.5; 2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Heb .10; 7Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

His love for us was so strong he gave himself

As the father had ask

And offering that God could except

Sweet to the Lord

To fill the words of his father.

2.To pay the ransom price for our redemption

1st Tim.2; 5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

3.To deliver us from this present evil age.

Gal.1; 4Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

God had to have a mediator that could meet the needs

Only one could fill the need Jesus

He paid the price for all man kind

To us from our sinful ways

4. To redeem us from all iniquity and purify us to himself.

Titus 2; 14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Paid the price no other could

Purify our sins for his on himself

Made a peculiar people for his on to do good works

5. To present us to himself, holy and blameless.

Eph . 5; 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

A gift to God that was blameless

A holy gift from the Lord

To cleanse us by the washing of the word

We are to love each other as he loved us

Glorious churches with no spot are wrinkle

Holy and without blemish
