Why Are Standing Around? (Hix)

Acts 1:9-11-Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Jesus had been with the disciples 40 days when He ascended into heaven, 42 days ago we celebrated Easter, and since we are observing the Lord’s supper today, what better verses to look at this morning.

Because within these verses are a promise, a truth and a directive!

The government might lie to you!

Your spouse might lie to you!

Your children might lie to you!

Your boss might lie to you!

Advertisers might lie to you!

A salesman might lie to you!

But you can be sure of this…That He came the first time and He is coming again!

There have been times I have stood looking out the window of the church because someone said they were going to be here, and God had laid on my heart a message and because I knew their circumstances, I knew it would help them, encourage them, strength them, but they didn’t show up and I was disappointed, but I know that God’s word doesn’t come back void.

I will tell you one thing, He said that he is coming back and in that you can believe and in that you will not be disappointed!!

There are not lot things in this life you can bank on, but you can bank on this truth!!

He came the first time as an Innocent Lamb, He will come back the second time as a Conquering Lion.

He came the first time an wore a Crown of Thorns, He will come back the second time wearing a Gold Crown.

He came the first time as a Servant, He will come back the second time as a King.

He came the first time and only a few worshipped Him, He will come back the second time and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord!

He may or may not come in our lifetime, but remember God is not the one running out of time…We Are!!

We need to be busy…We need to be busy serving the Lord!

We can’t pray to much!

We can’t serve to much!

We can’t give to much!

We can’t sacrifice to much!

We can’t study to much!

You are not just doing it for you, you are doing it for others!

What you read in God’s word is not only beneficial to you but can also be beneficial to others!

When you give it not only helps you, but is also benefits others!

Others are going to benefit from you living a Christian life, even after you leave this old world!

We can stand here gazing, that’s what a lot of people want to do…..They want to hear good singing, good preaching that makes them feel good about themselves.

There are times when we need times of refreshment, times of nourishment in God’s word, times of rekindling the flame in our hearts…Oh, but when we leave out this church building, we need to be working for Jesus

Well work till Jesus comes!

That same Jesus…Who arose from the dead!

That same Jesus…That healed the sick!

That same Jesus…That touched blind eyes and made the see!

That same Jesus…That made lame people walk!

That same Jesus…That made deaf people hear!

That Same Jesus Is Coming Back!!

Are you living like He’s coming back?

Are you witnessing like He’s coming back?

Are praying like He’s coming back?

Are you tithing like He’s coming back?

Are you studying your bible like He’s coming back?
