Who Will Preach This Gospel?

by Pastor Donny Granberry

Let’s make our profession together, this is my bible, God’s …

Turn to Matthew 24.

In our text today we find Jesus speaking to his disciples just before he is ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father.

Jesus is describing the events that will be taking place when He returns and the signs to look for.

Matthew 24:3-14 NIV

4 Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

I would like to take the 14th verse of that chapter to use as my focus of attention this morning, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

I would like to emphasize a portion of that scripture, “This gospel will be preached.”

I would like to ask a simple, yet profound question today, “Who’s gonna preach this gospel?”

In our missions conference a couple of months ago I used these words from a Cathedral’s Quartet song:

Preach the word, preach the cross, preach redemption to a lost and dying world, lift your voice unashamed, of the gospel of His name, until all have heard, preach the word.

When the disciples came out of the upper room, they immediately began to preach the word, and that very day, 3,000 lives were brought into the kingdom on God.

Luke 24:47 KJV

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Is it any wonder that the first place the gospel was preached after the upper room experience was in Jerusalem, Jesus told them to begin in Jerusalem.

Why” Jerusalem was home.

Too many today will give to missions as hired guns and not go out and preach the word in their own Jerusalem.

I ask you today, “Who will preach this gospel?”

The preaching of the word of God is the bridge between heaven and hell to a world that is lost and dying, and we have the words of life.

Romans 10:14-15 KJV

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Satan today, is planning on you taking this message, and putting it on the back burner, to forget about it.

He will inform you that the task is too great and the work is too hard.

He will tell you that it is impossible for you to make a difference.

One person cannot take on the load of the whole world.

Try telling that to Jesus.

Church, we have not been called on to save the world, be we have been commissioned and ordained to preach the word.

J. W. Tucker did not save anyone in the Republic of the Congos of Africa.

As a matter of fact he was murdered by the Congan people and his body thrown in the Congo River and fed to the crocodiles.

But today, through the blood that Jesus shed, and the martyrdom of Bro. Tucker, the word of God is thriving in the Republic of Congo.

Why? The power of the preached word of God.

THE POWER OF THE WORD

Hebrews 4:12 KJV

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword …

There is great power when we speak the word of God.
