Exodus 32:15-35 WHO IS ON THE LORD’S SIDE?

Intro Forgetful "Ice Cream with chocolate sauce and a glass of milk." write it down

he came back and presented her with scrambled eggs, sausage and a glass of milk.

She looked at him disgusted and said, "You forgot my toast!"

I. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF BEING ON THE LORD’S SIDE 26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

Those On The Lord's Side :-

A. Understand Salvation. Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

1. Salvation is a gift from God.“[It is] the gift of God:”

2. Salvation is by the grace of God.“For by grace are ye saved

Many are like the woman who hired a cleaning lady to clean her house once a week.

Mt. 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

B. Believe the Scriptures. II Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

1. The Word of God is Inspired. “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God.”

32:16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

2. The Word of God is Infallible.

a. The tablets were broken… 19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

b. But the truth will never be broken. “The scripture cannot be broken.”

John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

1. They are Sure. Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

2. They are Settled. Ps 119:89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

3. They are Sovereign 32:16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

To Obey The Truth the Whole Truth, & Nothing but the Truth.

Luther (Worms) "Unless I am convicted by scripture and plain reason - I do not accept the authority of the popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other - my

conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not recant anything for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. God help me. Amen."

3. The Word of God is Inerrant.

The Old Testament attests the inerracy of the Bible.

Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

The New Testament affirms the inerrancy of the Scripture,

Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

C. Reject Sin.27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

Our world today thinks it is old- fashioned to talk about sin and holiness.

The enlightened individual refers to drunkeness, lying, theft, and perversions as

"diseases of the mind"...rather than willful acts of rebellion against God.

II. THE CAUSES FOR BEING ON THE LORD’S SIDE 26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

A. CONSIDER THE APPEAL let him come unto me.

It's Personnal let him come unto me. Purposeful Who is on the LORD’S side?

After Moses asked "Who is on the Lord's side?" the Levites came to him and went through the camp killing about 3000 men. These were outside the tents. Where was Aaron during this time? He and his brother Moses were Levites. Did they (either) participate in the killings? Might have been awkward for Aaron. What am I missing? Thanks.
