Who Is Jesus?

Everyone must answer that question. How we answer it will determine our eternal destination.

But you say why are you asking me that question I’m a Christian so you should know that I know Who Jesus Is?

Jesus asked that question over two thousand years ago. He asked it of His disciples – men who had followed Him; had heard the Sermon on the Mount; had seen the leper and the centurion’s servant and Peter’s mother – in – law healed; the storm on the sea clamed; devils cast out; the woman healed by touching His garment in a crowd, two blind men’s sight restored, two demon-possessed men freed from torment and made whole, the 5,000 fed, the 4,000 fed and much more.

They (his disciples) sat at His feet as he taught them about influence, radiant life, the law, spiritual standards, purity, sacredness of marriage, oaths and profanity, unlimited service, love, divine standards of life, benevolence, prayer, fasting, heavenly rewards, providence, concern. Yet He asked them all, “But who say ye that I am? / But who do you say that I am?

It is a question that still must be answered today. It has been asked millions of times since Jesus asked it of His disciples and answered millions of times. And it is still asked today, and will be asked tomorrow; each time, an answer is required. But who do you say that I am?

So I ask you again Who do you say Jesus is / Who Is Jesus to you?

Is He just a man to you? Possibly just a prophet of God? Maybe a morally good man and teacher?

Maybe a good man who lived long ago, a philosopher perhaps?

Is it really that necessary to have the exact answer of Who Christ Is?

1st of all, if you are building your faith on the wrong foundation, you are going to collapse some day. Everything you build upon a crooked foundation will not only collapse but will stack up as crooked as your foundation. You have resources to learn the truth and God will hold you responsible for the truth that He puts before you.

2ndly, you could be following and believing in ANOTHER Jesus that Saint Paul wrote about in his epistles. Another Jesus will not be able to bring you into the Father’s kingdom.

What people say about Jesus is one thing. What we say as Christian is quite another. While it is interesting to hear what others say about Jesus, what we say really makes all the difference in terms of how we live our lives.

After Jesus had inquired what people were saying about Him, He turned the question to the disciples and asked them what they thought. He said, Who do you say that I am.” He wanted to know what conclusions they had come to concerning Him. Based on their experience of Him, had they come to see Him for whom He really was? This was the issue for them, and it is still the issue for US.

Have we come to the truth concerning Jesus for ourselves? You see, it is not simply what we believe intellectually about Jesus, it is important that the truth about Him has so gripped us that it makes a difference in the way we live. Has knowing that Jesus Christ is truly Lord made a difference in our lives?

I want to mainly look at what Jesus says about Himself.

In John 10:30 Jesus says “I and the Father are one.” The Jews knew He was claiming to be God for they picked up stones to stone Him. They said “for a good work we do not stone You but for blasphemy; and because You being a man, make Yourself out to be a God.

In John 14:11 Jesus said “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me …..” Jesus though distinct from the Father is in essence one with the Father.

Jesus as recorded in John 8:38 said “before Abraham was born, I Am. That phrase “I AM” was used by God in Exodus 3:14 to describe Himself. So Jesus by saying “I Am” was telling the Jews and us that He is God.

Jesus is God; the second person of the Trinity. He is the God-Man who came to offer Himself as the sacrifice for our sins.

But who do you say that I am?

As we look at our lives, we find that often we have not been very good about saying that Jesus is Our Lord and Savior and the center of our life.

Walk with Jesus and your love for Him will grow deeper everyday.

It does not matter who we are He and you can fellowship together.
