Who is God!

Who do you say God is! The best way to begin answering this question is to go to the Bible. What does scripture tell us about “Who is God!”

John 1:1 reads – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

Genesis 1:1 reads - In the beginning God created the heaven and earth.

Who is God! God is the beginning; He is FIRST; the START; the ALPHA.

“In the beginning God”, no one is excluded from coming to God; so inorder for us to have life everlasting we must start with God. Inorder for us to be forgiven of our sins we must begin with God. How do we begin with God?

What is the First thing we must do to invite God into our lives.

We must repent, confess our sins, and ask God for forgiveness and mercy.

We must First seek God. God is our beginning.

There can be no spiritual, divine or Christian Life without God.

Isaiah 55:7 –“ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

First, we must believe in and receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord; then we can know God personally and experience His love.

John 1:12 – “To all who received Him. He gave the right to become children of God. All they had to do was to trust (believe in) Him to save them.

God wants us to come to know Him and follow Him. As He speaks to us He reveals Himself so we can have faith to trust Him in this assignment He calls us to. He reveals His purposes so we will be involved in His work and not just things we dreamed up to do for God. God reveals His ways so that He can accomplish His work through us in a way that He gets all the glory.

In the beginning God ………………………….

But is that it? No! Who is God! God is Mercy.

Deut. 4:31 – “(For the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.”

Deut. 7:9 – “Therefore know that the Lord yours God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.”

Psalm 103:8 – “The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

The mercy of God is manifested toward everyone who confesses and forsakes his sins.

Proverbs 28:13 – “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

Although every person has offended God, he welcomes back those who abandon their sin and place their faith in Him. God revealed to people how they should live, but no one can live up to God’s perfect way. “All have sinned”: No one can live up to what God created us to be; “we all fall short of His glory.” We cannot save ourselves because as sinners we can never meet God’s requirements. Our only hope is “faith in Jesus Christ.”

Romans 3:23-26

23. All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.

24. But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins.

25 -25. God sent Christ to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life’s blood so that by faith in Him we could come to God. And God did this to show that in the past He was right to be patient and forgive sinners. This also shows that God is right when He accepts people who have faith in Jesus.

Because God is merciful He forgives us of our sins when we confess them.

Who is God!

God is our beginning.

God is mercy.

And finally God is Love.

1 John 4:8-11

8. God is love, and anyone who doesn’t love others has never known Him.

9. God showed His love for us when He sent His only Son into the world to give us life.

10. Real love isn’t our love for God, but His love for us. God sent His Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven.

11. Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we must love each other.

It is impossible to know God intimately without loving others, for “God is Love”; Anyone in whom God dwells reflects God’s character. To claim to know God while failing to Love others is to make a false claim.
