Introduction

As we continue our study in the book of Matthew and come to the verse in Matthew 22:32 it says; I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

If God is the great I am and there is no other God beside him, the I would like you to consider the question that Micah asked in Micah 7:18-19.

Micah starts verse 18 off with a question, Who is a God like unto thee.

So our theme for the message this morning is: Who is a God like unto thee that can:

Please turn to Micah 7:18-19.

Let us honor the Word of God and stand as I read from Micah 7:18-19.

Scripture

18 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?

He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy.

19 He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:18-19

Prayer

Theme: Who is a God like unto thee that can:

I. Pardons iniquity:

A. To pardon means (to forgive; to free from punishment)

B. When God pardons our iniquity it means that he has freed

us from sin.

C. Psalms 32:2 regards; Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, if you would permit let me paraphrase this verse in my own thoughts; Blessed is the person that God no longer accuse of sin because God has forgiven them and they no longer have deceitful thoughts in their hearts. MB

D. What other god can pardon us from iniquity?

No other God, None!

Theme: Who is a God like unto thee that can:

I. Pardons iniquity: No other God, None!

II. Pass by our transgression:

A. Our transgressions are rebellion towards God.

B. What other God will over look our rebellion?

Micah 7:18 says; Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy.

C. Psalms 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is

forgiven, Whose sin is covered.

Transgression Forgiven!

Theme: Who is a God like unto thee that can:

I. Pardons iniquity: No other God, None!

II. Pass by our transgression: Transgression Forgiven!

III. Retain not his anger against us?

A. He is not a God who keeps his anger stored up.

B. Nehemiah 9:17 says; They refused to obey, And they were not mindful of Your wonders That You did among them.

But they hardened their necks, And in their rebellion They appointed a leader To return to their bondage.

But You are God, Ready to pardon, Gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, Abundant in kindness, And did not forsake them.

Slow to Anger!

Theme: Who is a God like unto thee that can:

I. Pardons iniquity: No other God, None!

II. Pass by our transgression: Transgression Forgiven!

III. Retain not his anger against us? Slow to Anger!

IV. Delight in mercy?

A. Contrary to what the world wants to tell us about God he

does take more delight in mercy, he does not take delight

in persecution.

B. God gets more pleasure showing loving kindness towards

us.

C. Jeremiah 33:11b for his mercy endureth for ever: Gods

mercy never stops, he will show it to us forever.

D. 1 Peter 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

Abundant Mercy!

Theme: Who is a God like unto thee that can:

I. Pardons iniquity: No other God, None!

II. Pass by our transgression: Transgression Forgiven!

III. Retain not his anger against us? Slow to Anger!

IV. Delight in mercy? Abundant Mercy!

V. Have compassion upon us?

A. Psalms 86:15 But thou, O LORD, art a God full of

compassion,

B. What other God loved us so much that he sent his Son to

die for us?

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16

Ultimate Love!

Theme: Who is a God like unto thee that can:

I. Pardons iniquity: No other God, None!

II. Pass by our transgression: Transgression Forgiven!

III. Retain not his anger against us? Slow to Anger!

IV. Delight in mercy? Abundant Mercy!

V. Have compassion upon us? Ultimate Love!

VI. Subdue our iniquities?
