Who Do You Love ?

Summary: If we really love God the way we say we do would we live the way we do? If we really loved God the way were supposed to would we have as much problems witnessing? Who do you really love, The Father or the Flesh ?
WHO DO YOU LOVE?
Intro: Those here that are not saved, still living in sin will most likely not agree with or like this message.
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)
1. The reason
a. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
b. (1 John 2:18) we are in the last days.
c. It’s time we get serious about being separated and live for God
2. The recipients
Three distinct groups of spiritual maturity levels are given.
John’s words apply to them all (none exempt)
a. “fathers” have a deep knowledge of God, knowing God in His fullness (Phil.3:10)
b. “young men” know sound doctrine, but do not have a mature relationship with God
c. “children”
1. vs.12 Speaks of the children of God of all ages
2. vs. 13 Speaks of the children as new converts “infants” that need to grow
3. The requirement
a. All these are in God’s family (there all born again)
b. All these were in God’s family but at different maturity levels
c. Not all “Christians” will bring you into a closer relationship with God.
I. THE WORLD (1 John 2:15-16)
A. “lust of the flesh”
B. “lust of the eyes”
C. “pride of life”
D. none of these are “of The Father”
E. “but is of the world”
II. THE FATHER
A. you’ll talk different (cursing, gossiping, back biting)
B. you’ll act different (flirting jesters/remarks, dirty jokes/ comments)
C. you’ll dress different (were to be the light of the world, not the comforter)
D. you’ll have different music (what we allow in our minds will effect us)
Conclusion:
Hey young men, young women choose not to look like act like the world.
That old nature will still crave the things of this world. You need to starve it to death.
This new nature only wants things that are of God; but that old nature will never want the things of God.
Hey mature Christian are we setting the example that God would be pleased with.
One of the reasons it’s so hard today to win someone to Christ is that God’s sheep have become dirty gray. We have made the black sheep more comfortable where they are, in there sin.
ARE YOU HAVING A HARD TIME LIVING BY BIBLICAL STANDARDS; IF SO ASK YOURSELF, DOES MY LIFE SHOW MY LOVE FOR THE FATHER OR THE WORLD
