Summary: Our God is worthy to be praised and certainly be trusted, as it states clearly in Psalms 33.

A few thoughts about what we can learn here:

1. God loves Christian music sang from the hearts of those depending upon His faithfulness. (1-4).

Many Psalms teach the use of music in praise. Many teach the use of different instruments, including stringed instruments, brass, drums and percussion. But the most common instrument called for in worship of God is the human voice.

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Psa 33:2-3 Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

2. The attributes of God are to be praised, not dreaded, by forgiven people. (5-8).

When opponents of God are asked what they hate about God most, they mention the things that make us glad.

Two little football teams met at the field for the first game. The teams have not been given their Jerseys yet because of a shipping problem. They would get them that day.

Then a bigger, stronger boy strolls up to field with the other boys. One group of smaller boys is frowning, looking fearfully at the big boy. The other smaller boy is smiling. He’s says, "Don’t be afraid of Bruce. He's with us. He’s on our team."

Fear of the Lord is not dread, but reverent respect, accompanied with great joy, not that HE is with us, but that He allows us to be on His side.

Jos 5:13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?"

Jos 5:14 And he said, "No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, "What does my lord say to his servant?"

Jos 5:15 And the commander of the LORD's army said to Joshua, "Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.

Psa 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!

3. In light of God's power, it is futile and unreasonable to rebel against Him. (9-11).

I should say, it is unthinkable to stand against God. If He can bring the counsel of nations (or all the people of the world) to nothing, what is an individual to do?

In the Tribulation, there will be amazing unity. Nearly every human will unite against God and very, very few people will follow God. This is unity like we have never seen in the world. Ashamed, they will unite for the wrong reason, against the wrong King.

Rev 16:21 And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

Any plan against Him will be frustrated.

4. In light of His power, it is natural for us to trust God, no matter the circumstances. (12-19).
