Summary: An illiterated outline how the blood of Christ provides and supplies four necessities to the Christian life

WHERE THERE IS BLOOD

Exodus 12:1-7 & 13

Intro: In this text we find the institution of the Passover. As you can see it is called the Passover because of the fact the death angel passed over the houses of those that had the blood applied their doors thus resulting in the sparing of the firstborn and the sparing of Israel. But as we examine the text a little closer lets look at what happened that night that made the difference for those who were the first born as to whether they lived or died. As the death angel began to fly over Egypt he was looking for one thing and that was the blood. Nothing else would satisfy his Master but blood. I want to preach on the subject “WHERE THERE IS BLOOD.”

I. WHEN HE SEES THE BLOOD THERE IS SECURITY

A. That is correct I said there is security where there is the sacrificial blood

B. But make no mistake this is not unconditional security

C. There was conditions to the security

1. The sacrificial lamb had to be unblemished – purity

2. Had to be completely roasted and eaten – Christ enduring God’s wrath for the sins of the people

3. Eat it full clothed with their shoes on – represents Gods people being ready to go

D. One all of this was done the blood had to be spread on the door posts and lintel with hyssop

E. (Exodus 12:22) …and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning

F. These were all conditions and if one of the wasn’t followed there was a great price to pay…the penalty was death

G. As long as they stayed behind the blood they were secure

II. WHERE THRE IS BLOOD THERE IS SAFETY

A. (Exodus 12:29) And it came to pass at midnight the Lord smote all of the firstborn in the land of Egypt…

B. (Exodus 12:30) And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all of his servants, and all the Egyptians: and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead

C. Notice every household in Egypt that was not of the children of Israel experienced a death in the family that night

D. Also notice that there was no deaths mentioned of God’s people

E. When you are behind the blood even thought the death angel may be flying on the outside its good to know everything is all right on the inside

III. WHERE THERE IS BLOOD THERE IS SALVATION

A. When the Lord saves you it is more than just saying a few words and going about your business

B. There is a great transaction that takes place: “Tis done the great transactions done, I am the Lords and he is mine”

C. O Happy Day, O Happy Day, when Jesus washed my sins away!!

D. How wonderful to think that he comes to live inside this wretched heart that use to be the servant of sin

E. What a joy to realize for the first time you are saved and that you have just been rescued from eternal damnation

F. For the children of Israel their salvation came when they departed Egypt a

IV. WHERE THERE IS BLOOD THERE IS SELFLESSNESS

A. When the blood is applied you are not yours anymore

B. In all reality a saved person doesn’t even have control anymore

C. (I Corinthians 6:20) For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s

D. John the Baptist was so in love with Jesus he made this statement (John 3:30) He must increase, but I must decrease)

Close: It is safe to say that where you find the sacrificial blood you will find Jesus. If the blood is not applied to your heart it is impossible for you to make Heaven your home.
