Summary: Some times in our life we have our bucket in the wrong well.
WHERE IS YOUR BUCKET
John 4:When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4And he must needs go through Samaria.
5Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
Jesus was human just like we are he was tired so he stopped to rest at well of Jacob. It was about 12 noon very hot and I am sure that Christ body and feet were tired and sore from preaching and teaching
the Holy Bible all day.
1. Jesus did not have to come through Samaria he saw a need.
A lost woman
A sinful woman
A woman of sorrow
A woman of need salvation
2. She came to get water for her household
As the bucket hit the water and she drew it up
Jesus said unto give me a drink
She looked at him in shock you ask me for a drink a Samaria woman.
Jesus wanted her attention boy did he get it
Jesus wanted her to hear what he had to say.
for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
Christ knew this
3.You have no bucket the well is deep
11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Water we must have in order to live
Worldly has is for worldly life
The water I offer in for spiritual life
Water is forever and forever
Never need to drink it again
4. What Well did you drink from
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Have you ask God for the living water
Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Think of that never again
God has the supply just ask him for a drink
Maybe you are drinking worldly water
That why you can not get enough
5. Christ is moving in for a confession out of her.
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
16Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
He knew all the time
He wanted her to say she was drinking from the wrong well
She hid nothing from Christ
Stop hiding and move up for the Lord
6. Just say give me what I need
15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
Talking about opening up
Hey I want it now
I don’t want to thirst again
I don’t want to have to draw again.
Here is my bucket fill it to the top
