Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Even in times of loss, we can find hope, comfort, and redemption in God's grace and mercy, which He freely gives not because of our deeds, but because of His love for us.
Good morning, family. Today, we're going to dive deep into God's word and explore a topic that we've all experienced at some point: loss. But this isn't a message of despair, oh no, it's a message of hope, redemption, and the comforting presence of our God in our darkest hours. We'll be drawing from two powerful passages today: Micah 7:18 and Ephesians 2:8-9.
Micah 7:18 says,
"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy."
And Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us,
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."
In the words of the great Christian author, A.W. Tozer, "Grace is the good pleasure of God that inclines Him to bestow benefits on the undeserving."
As we navigate life's trials and tribulations, it's comforting to remember we serve a God who delights in showing mercy, who saves us not because of what we've done, but because of His incredible grace.
So let's bow our heads in prayer as we prepare to dive deeper into these truths.
Father God, we thank You for Your grace, for Your mercy, and for the hope of redemption. As we open Your Word today, we ask for Your guidance. Help us to see Your truth, to feel Your presence, and to know that even in times of loss, You are our comfort. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Let's explore this together!
God's grace is an unfathomable concept, a divine gift that is freely given, not earned or deserved. It is the love and mercy given to us by God because He desires us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it. This grace is most evident in times of loss, when our hearts are heavy and our spirits are low. In these moments, God's grace becomes our lifeline, our beacon of hope in the midst of despair.
Comforting nature: When we are grieving, we often feel alone, isolated in our pain. However, God's grace assures us that we are never alone. His presence is a constant, a source of comfort and solace in our darkest hours. His grace is like a warm blanket wrapped around us, providing comfort and security amidst the storm. It's a reminder that even in our suffering, God is there, holding us close, whispering words of comfort and love into our hearts.
Transformative power: Loss can leave us feeling broken, shattered into a million pieces. Yet, God's grace has the power to take our brokenness and make us whole again. It's like a divine glue, piecing us back together, healing our wounds, and making us stronger than before. This transformative power of grace doesn't erase our loss, but it helps us to grow and evolve, to find meaning and purpose in our pain.
Manifests as strength: Loss can leave us feeling weak, unable to cope with the demands of life. Yet, God's grace provides us with the strength we need to carry on. It's like a divine energy source, fueling us, empowering us to face each day with courage and resilience. This strength is not our own, but God's, working in and through us, enabling us to navigate our way through the valley of loss.
A source of hope: Loss can often leave us feeling hopeless, unable to see beyond our current circumstances. Yet, God's grace provides us with a hope that transcends our circumstances. It's a divine promise that even in our darkest hour, there is light at the end of the tunnel. This hope is not based on wishful thinking, but on the certainty of God's promises, on the assurance of His love and faithfulness.
God's grace is our anchor: he is holding us steady amidst the storm. It's our compass, guiding us through the wilderness of grief. It's our lifeline, pulling us out of the depths of despair. It's our source of comfort, strength, transformation, and hope.
The Hope of Redemption is a concept that speaks to the transformative power of God's love and grace, offering a second chance and a new beginning, even in the face of our failures and shortcomings ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
