Psalm 133 (New Living Translation)
A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. A psalm of David.
1 How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!
2 For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head,
that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe.
3 Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced (commanded) his blessing, even life everlasting.
What is the blessing? The blessing is the impartation of the supernatural power of God into a human life by the spoken Word of God's delegated authority. It is God's will to bless every aspect of your life.
This supernatural blessing is invoked by speaking it aloud. Once the blessing has been spoken, it cannot be withdrawn! Only God can stop it for disobedience, but no man can stop it. Once a spiritual authority speaks the blessing, you should fully expect it on your life.
God wants to bless us because it is His nature to bless his children. We can live under the power of the blessing or by opposition under the power of the curse. There are choices we make that can bring God to a point in which He will live to his promise and Psalm 133 is one of them. Whenever we decide to become peace-makers and live in harmony with others there is a powerful promise of blessing.
1. We are born to win but most of us are programmed to fail (there are a few exceptions)
Do you ever feel like your life is like a maze and you’re trapped in that maze? You know in your heart there is a plan and purpose for your life if you could only find the right path. In searching for that right path you keep hitting walls and dead ends feeling defeated, depressed, disconnected and lost wanting to give up.
Many Christians have these feelings of being lost without direction and trapped in a dead end. Today I want to tell you that religion cannot set you free. Doctrines and 10 step methods cannot set you free, motivational books cannot liberate you form life’s maze. Don’t get me wrong, all of these things may help but it’s not guaranteed. There is only one thing that can change your life forever and that is the Power of God’s blessing.
Our attitudes will determine if we live under His blessing. Words are important but they are not enough.
2. God commands blessing in a PLACE - not always in a PERSON
Psalm 133 (New Living Translation)
3 Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced (commanded) his blessing, even life everlasting.
There – Dictionary: “At or in that place”
Some commentaries say that THERE is referring to Zion. Some even add that Zion is the Church. My interpretation of THERE is simply the spiritual place where we arrive when we learn how to obey God and his Word. This is a spiritual place of unity with our brothers.
3. How to move to the place of blessing
1. The place in our lives where h causes His name to be remembered becomes a place of blessing.
Exodus 20:24 “…in every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.”
Note: He will use us to cause his name to be remembered
2. Learn to elevate yourself to a higher ground
Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”
If God is in the Heavenly places and he has already blessed me in those places I need to move there if I want to live under His blessing.
A. Discipline my prayer life and my thoughts
B. Read God’s Word and align my life with Godly principles (not religion)
C. Rise up above the problems, trials and tribulations trusting that God will keep me from falling. (When we fall from a high place we might get hurt)
D. The way up is “down” - by humbling myself
E. The attitude of our heart is the only way that I can live by faith and please God.
3. Cultivate your Soul
Our mind is like a garden. As a Gardener we have to plant good seeds and continually tend and nurture our garden with constant care and attention. Not doing so would result in a garden of weeds that would ruin our garden. Much like a garden our mind is similar. Our words and thoughts are seeds. Left unattended our mind can be overrun by destructive thoughts and can result in our ruin.
