Summary: We all face changes and transition in our lives and sometimes ask the question; What's next? This message helps us understand if we just keep following God we will get to the destination that He has planned for us.

( I used this with a group that I meet with weekly But it could easily be modified for your church setting)

Introduction:

Every one of us is in a transition. Some of you are starting college. Some may be going back for a GED. Others are stepping up into new roles and responsibilities you didn’t see coming. And some of you—are experiencing what it means to start fresh spiritually.

So let me ask the question we all wrestle with at some point:

“Where do we go from here?”

Whether you’re taking on new challenges or rebuilding after a hard season—Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us a powerful word to hold on to.

Point 1: Every Season Has a Next Step

Each of us is in a season, and every season has a next step. Maybe it's a change in your health, a change in your family, a new calling, or even a spiritual reawakening. God cares about each one.

You never outgrow needing God’s direction. It’s a call for all of us to pause and ask: What step is God asking me to take next?

Point 2: Trust Isn’t Passive—It’s a Daily Choice

The Scripture says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” That means even when it doesn’t make sense. Even when the way forward isn’t clear. Trusting God isn’t sitting back—it’s stepping forward in faith.

Your understanding is limited. God's isn’t. He sees the whole picture. And when we surrender our plans, our fears, and our need for control, He directs our path.

Whether you're facing a diagnosis, a decision, or a dream—trust isn’t a one-time prayer. It’s a daily choice.

Point 3: God Doesn’t Just Reveal the Destination—He Walks With Us

“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” That doesn’t mean easy. It means guided. God often doesn’t give us the whole map. He gives us a light for the next step.

Illustration: I remember going coon hunting with my Uncle Johnny. We’d get dropped off deep in the swamp, just the two of us and a six-volt headlamp between us. It was pitch black, and the only thing we had to rely on was that narrow beam of light. We couldn’t see the whole trail, but we could always see the next few feet. And step by step, that light always led us back to his house.

That’s what walking with God looks like. You may not know what’s ten years down the road. But if you follow His light today, you'll end up right where He wants you to be.

Conclusion: A Charge to the Group

God is doing something special here—not just in this restaurant, but in your lives. You’re not here by accident. Every one of you is on a path that God sees clearly, even if you don't.

So where do you go from here?

You take the next step with God.

Trust Him. Follow His light. Be part of what He’s doing—not just in your own life but right here in this restaurant.

This can be a place where Jesus is honored in every meal, every shift, every interaction. And it starts with each of us saying:

“God, I trust You. Lead me.”

Closing Prayer:

Father, thank You for this new day and for every person here. You see the transitions we’re in and the burdens we carry. Help us to trust You fully—not just with our words but with our hearts and actions. Lead us step by step. Make this place, and our lives, a reflection of Your grace and goodness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
