Summary: If only we could see Him in every song, sermon, service, and saint.

WHEN THEY SAW THE LORD

John 20:20

And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

I. THE SHOWING

“He shewed unto them his hands and his side.”

A. WHAT HE SHOWED THEM.

1. Where he was wounded by the spikes.

2. Where he was wounded by the spear.

B. WHY HE SHOWED THEM.

1. He wanted to convince them of His

resurrection.

2. He wanted to convince them He was real.

II. THE SEEING

“They saw the Lord.”

A. THE EVIDENCE WAS CREDITABLE.

1. The evidence was visible.

2. The evidence was verifiable.

B. THE EVIDENCE WAS CONVINCING.

1. It wasn’t a spirit.

2. It was the Savior.

III. THE SATISFACTION

“Then were the disciples glad.”

IV. THE SIMILARITY

“Then will the disciples be glad when they see

the Lord.”

A. IN EVERY SONG…SEE THE LORD

1. I like singing to be moving…

2. But I also like singing to have

meaning.

A. I would rather hear a slow song

that has meaning…

B. Than to hear a swift song that has

no meaning.

B. IN EVERY SERMON…SEE THE LORD

1. I’m not here to preach politics.

2. I’m not here to promote some party.

3. I’m not here to practice psychology.

4. I’m here to preach what Paul preached.

“Christ and Him crucified”

C. IN EVERY SERVICE…SEE THE LORD

1. I have to confess.

A. Some services are dull.

B. Some services are dry.

2. If I had my choice.

A. I would want every service to be

exciting.

B. I would want every service to be

enriching.

3. I have to concede.

A. Sometimes I let personal problems

stand in the way.

B. Sometimes I let particular people

stand in the way.

D. IN EVERY SAINT…SEE THE LORD.

1. Sometimes you can see hypocrisy in

some church members.

2. Sometimes you can see hollowness in

some church members.

3. It would be nice if we could see true

holiness in every church member.
