WHEN THE WORLD SEEMS BIGGER THAN GOD by George Crumbly

I John 4:1-4
I want to talk again about applying God’s word to our lives. We’ve been talking about searching the scriptures for the answers to questions we have today as well as solutions to the problems we are facing. We have to be careful as there are many out there that will give you “their opinion” rather than hat the bible says.
(Lady I knew moved in with a man because she would lose a certain amount of her government income, she said it was alright in God’s eyes.)
(Couple of preachers on talk radio excited about the recent elections when a caller called in asking the preachers how they justified supporting a candidate that supports abortion, one of the preachers told the caller he who is without sin cast the first stone.)
So I can live like I want to live and the word gets out I’ve been seen running around with other women, I’ve been seen out honky-tonkin when my church board confronts me I can tell them he that is without sin cast the first stone?
I guess many today are looking for loopholes. There may be loopholes in a contract you have, or in the judicial system somewhere but there are no loopholes in God’s word or in God’s way.
We have problems, trials & such that at times might APPEAR to be bigger than God but they are not!!!
(You’ve seen the right side mirror on your vehicle that says “objects may appear closer than they are”)
If Satan can BLOW up, magnify our problems to be bigger than they actually are then we tend to take our focus off of God. Today, when the world seems bigger than God then turn to:
I John 4: verses 1-4 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of god; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; and this is the spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come ; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world”.
We all have our own problems and although they might appear to be significant to us they do make up a small part of this world. No matter how big our problems actually are, they are bnot bigger than God!!! If we allow them to get bigger than they actually are then we will take our eyes off of God and focus more on our problems.
I do agree no doubt that there are times the world seems to be bigger than God. Always remember in good as well as bad times that:
GOD + one = A MAJORITY
God plus one ALWAYS is a majority!!! Remember that GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD!! Always!! Not sometimes but ALWAYS!!!
It is so easy to get discouraged but this verse of scripture encourages me!! Peter walked on the water because Jesus told him to “Come” and he did. I know there must have been some in the boat telling Peter he could not do what he was doing but as long as he kept his eyes FOCUSED on Jesus he could walk on the water, but he began to look around and see how the water was getting he began to sink.
Peter looked at the circumstances and situation he was in and began to focus on these and began to sink. You & I can do anything and everything God tells us to do, but only then does Satan remind us of the situations and circumstances and once we look and become focused we too begin to sink, thinking these circumstances and situations are bigger than God.
Christ must dwell in us. We were built for the spirit to dwell, to abide within our hearts. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live: yet not I but Christ liveth in me….”Galatians 2:20a
Before I was saved in 1983 I was part of the world. Even those days I lived in the world and I did not know Christ, the world was not bigger than God. It has never been nor will it EVER be bigger than God.
When my little problems appear bigger than God then I need to remember GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.
