Youth Sermon: When the Storm Comes

Introduction

Today, we're gonna talk about how to handle the storms of life. Those are the tough times when everything seems to be going wrong. But don't worry, we've got an awesome object lesson to help us understand this better.

So, imagine you're on a boat, and suddenly a huge storm hits. What's the one thing you need to keep your boat from drifting away or sinking? That's right - an anchor! Just like a boat needs an anchor in a storm, we need an anchor in our lives to keep us steady when things get tough. And that anchor is Jesus.

Just like a boat needs an anchor in a storm, we need an anchor in our lives to keep us steady when things get tough. And that anchor is Jesus.

Jesus as our Anchor

Let's check out a story from the Bible that shows us how important it is to have Jesus as our anchor. In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus talks about two builders - one who built his house on solid rock and the other who built his house on sand. When the storms came, the house on the rock stood strong, but the house on the sand fell apart. Jesus is telling us that if we build our lives on Him, we'll be able to withstand the storms that come our way.

Now, let's look at another story from the Bible that shows us how having Jesus as our anchor can help us through tough times. In Acts 27, Paul is on a ship that gets caught in a massive storm. Even though the ship is wrecked, Paul stays calm and trusts in God. He ends up on an island called Malta, where he helps heal people and share the good news about Jesus. Paul was able to stay strong in the storm because he had Jesus as his anchor.

Conclusion

So, what does this mean for us? It means that when we face tough times, we need to choose Jesus and trust in Him. We need to build our lives on the solid rock of Jesus, so we can stay strong when the storms come.

Next time you're going through a tough time, try praying and asking Jesus to be your anchor. Trust that He will help you through it, just like He helped Paul in the storm.

Prayer

"Jesus, thank you for being our anchor in the storms of life. Help us to trust in you and build our lives on the solid rock of your love. When tough times come, remind us to turn to you for strength and guidance. Amen."
