Summary: What to do when you think that your life is boring.
WHEN LIFE IS BORING
(2 Samuel 11:1-4)
Intro: Boring-A tiresome person, when interest is lost. Making believe the other person is exciting, when he isn’t.
I. WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF LIFE?
A. We have been created in the image of God
1) Gn. 1:27”So God created man in his own image, in image of God he created him”
B. We have a purpose in life
1)Psalms 139:13-
II. FULFILLING LIFE’S PURPOSE
A. David’s Life
1)His was one of a warrior
(a)I Samuel 22:1-2
(b)Prepared a great army with them
B. He knew the battlefield
1)His enemies feared him
2)He was always in the middle of the fight
3)His armor was not of metal but in trusting the
Lord
C. Appointed King of Israel
1)2 Samuel 5:3
III. NOT FINDING LIFE’S FULFILLMENT
A. David not fulfilling his responsibilities
1)2 Samuel 11:1
(a)all the kings went to the battlefield, except him
B. Being where you’re not suppose to be at
1)David wasn’t suppose to be at his palace
(a)he developed a softness that soon led to
spiritual and moral collapse
(b)his life of ease and luxury as king bred self-
confidence and self indulgence.
(c)he ceased to be a man after God’s heart 1 Sm. 13:14
2)Walked around where he wasn’t suppose to
(a)he knew his kingdom better then everybody
(b)he knew what to expect
(c)he gave place to his sinful desires -committing
sin
(d)Gal 5:4”So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall”
(e)Gal. 5:16”So I say, live by the Spirit and will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature”
IV. HOW NOT TO BE BORED IN YOUR CHRISTIAN LIFE
A. Recognize that God is alive and living in you
B. Acknowledge that He is your Lord and Savior
C. Know that He wants you to experience blessing
better then the last one
D. Repent when you sin
V. HOW NOT TO BE BORED DURING SERMONS
A. Listen until you hear one thing God wants you to do
B. Pay attention to the words until you hear one thing
You want to say to God
C. Try to say or do one thing to encourage some other person
VI. HOW NOT TO BE INFLUENCE BY OTHERS
A. Realize that peer pressure is everywhere
B. You belong not to your sinful desires but to the
Lord Jesus and Temptation does not come from God
1)Your own sinful nature - Stg. 1:13,14
C. Satan will also come and tempt you - 2 Cor. 11:4
D. Temptation is not a sin until committed
