INTRODUCTION:

The blessing found in Numbers 6:24–26 is not just a benediction; it is a divine declaration of God's intention for His people. When heaven smiles upon a man, it means God is pleased with him and has chosen to pour out His favour, peace, and presence upon his life. It is the smile of God that makes the journey of life meaningful, fruitful, and purposeful. When God smiles on you, it is impossible for your life to remain ordinary. His smile is a reflection of His love and favour working in your favour.

To live under an open heaven is to live under the active blessing of God. It brings divine protection, supernatural provision, and unexplainable peace. When God says, “The Lord bless thee and keep thee,” it means you are preserved from evil and established for greatness. His face shining upon you signifies divine attention, presence, and backing. You become unstoppable and irresistible when heaven smiles on you.

Rahab in Joshua 2 heard about the mighty acts of God, and her faith in that God brought salvation to her entire family. When heaven smiled on her, her story changed from shame to honour. Many believers today desire breakthrough, protection, or favour, but they need to understand that all these are by-products of living under the smile of God. When heaven smiles on a man, every other thing aligns for good.

1. THE MEANING OF HEAVEN’S SMILE

To understand the smile of heaven is to understand divine favour and approval.

a) It means divine acceptance and approval (Matthew 3:17):

When God said, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased,” He was publicly expressing His pleasure and support.

b) It is a sign of favour and preference (Psalm 30:5):

His favour is for a lifetime; it removes shame and opens doors man cannot open.

c) It is an assurance of divine presence (Exodus 33:14):

When His presence goes with you, it guarantees rest and success.

d) It is the confirmation of divine peace and partnership (Psalm 29:11):

God gives strength to His people and blesses them with peace.

Biblical Example: God smiled on David, lifting him from a shepherd boy to a king, despite being the least in his father's house (1 Samuel 16:11-13).

When God smiles on a man, limitations are broken, and favour locates him beyond human explanation.

2. WHEN HEAVEN SMILES, YOU ARE BLESSED AND KEPT

Heaven's smile secures both spiritual and physical covering.

a) The blessing of God covers every area of life (Proverbs 10:22):

It makes rich and adds no sorrow.

b) Divine protection is activated (Psalm 91:10–11):

No evil shall befall you when God's smile is upon you.

c) You are divinely guided and preserved from destruction (Isaiah 58:11):

God becomes your guide in dry places.

d) You become spiritually sensitive and aware (Psalm 32:8):

His eye instructs and leads you in the right path.

Biblical Example: Job was protected and blessed because God had placed a hedge of favour around him (Job 1:9–10).

A man who walks under heaven’s smile lives in divine security and prosperity, untouched by the calamities of the world.

3. HIS FACE SHINES UPON YOU AND GIVES YOU PEACE

God’s shining face represents light, guidance, and favour.

a) Light replaces darkness and confusion (Psalm 89:15):

Those who walk in the light of His countenance rejoice daily in His name.

b) Divine guidance becomes accessible (Psalm 119:130):

His word becomes a light unto your path, ensuring you don’t stumble.

c) Peace is imparted to your heart and mind (John 14:27):

Not as the world gives, but a deep, sustaining peace.

d) Joy becomes your atmosphere regardless of challenges (Romans 15:13):

The God of hope fills you with all joy and peace in believing.

Biblical Example: Gideon received peace after encountering the face of God, and his fears were replaced with strength (Judges 6:22–24).

When God causes His face to shine upon you, He fills your life with light, peace, and undeniable direction.

4. HEAVEN’S SMILE MAKES YOU A CHANNEL OF BLESSING

You do not just receive; you become a conduit for others.

a) Your life becomes a witness of God’s goodness (Psalm 67:1–2):

That His way may be known on earth and His saving health among all nations.

b) You become a blessing in your home, church, and community (Genesis 12:2):

You are blessed to be a blessing.

c) Your testimony encourages the faith of others (Revelation 12:11):

Others overcome by your word and experience.

d) You impact generations with the grace and favour of God (Psalm 112:1–2):

The generation of the upright shall be blessed.

Biblical Example: Joseph became a blessing to Egypt and his family because heaven smiled on him even in prison (Genesis 39:21–23).
