INTRODUCTION

Throughout creation, after each act of bringing something into existence, God declared, “It was good.” This repeated affirmation reveals that God values quality, order, and purpose in everything He does. Goodness is not just aesthetic; it represents God’s approval and divine standard.

Many believers struggle with dissatisfaction, comparing their lives, ministries, and achievements to others. Understanding God’s standard of good helps us recognise divine approval rather than seeking human applause. What God sees as good should be our benchmark for contentment, progress, and faithfulness.

This message emphasises aligning our work, character, and decisions with God’s standard. When God sees our lives and declares them good, it signals divine endorsement and invites His blessings to flow.

1. GOD’S GOODNESS IS THE STANDARD OF ALL CREATION

God alone defines what is good. Human opinions cannot establish divine value.

a) Creation reveals God’s standard (Genesis 1:4)

Light was declared good; it demonstrates God’s judgment of quality in design.

b) Goodness is purposeful (Isaiah 45:18)

God formed the earth to be inhabited; everything created had a reason.

c) God evaluates by function (Genesis 1:10, 12)

Fruits, plants, and seas were good because they fulfilled their intended purpose.

d) Alignment with God’s design ensures goodness (Psalm 104:24)

Understanding God’s plan ensures our work is recognised as good.

Biblical Example:

Noah’s ark was completed exactly as God instructed, and God’s blessing followed because it aligned perfectly with His standard (Genesis 6:22).

2. GOD SEES POTENTIAL BEFORE MAN DOES

Often, humans see flaws; God sees fulfilment and potential.

a) God’s sight is perfect (Psalm 33:13–14)

He observes hearts, motives, and future outcomes beyond appearances.

b) Faith trusts God’s perspective (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Walking by faith means believing God’s declaration over visible circumstances.

c) What God approves becomes established (Isaiah 55:11)

Even hidden or small beginnings can bear great results.

d) Human judgement is limited (1 Samuel 16:7)

God focuses on the heart, not outward appearance, when assessing goodness.

Biblical Example:

David was seen as the youngest and least likely by his family, but God saw a man after His own heart and anointed him king (1 Samuel 16:6-13).

3. GOD’S GOODNESS INVITES BLESSING

God’s declaration of good carries a spiritual and material blessing.

a) Goodness attracts favour (Psalm 1:3)

Lives rooted in God’s approval flourish and prosper.

b) Work done in obedience is blessed (Deuteronomy 28:12)

Aligning with God’s standard releases provision and influence.

c) Excellence honours God (Colossians 3:23-24)

Whatever is done as unto the Lord is seen as good in His sight.

d) God’s approval precedes promotion (1 Samuel 2:30)

God sets the value before humans recognise the outcome.

Biblical Example:

Joseph’s service in Potiphar’s house and prison was faithful, excellent, and God-approved, leading to supernatural promotion (Genesis 39:2-6, 21-23).

4. BELIEVERS MUST LIVE FOR GOD’S APPROVAL

Seeking God’s approval rather than human praise ensures alignment with divine purpose.

a) Pleasing God defines true success (Galatians 1:10)

Human admiration can be fleeting; God’s approval lasts forever.

b) God sees hidden efforts (Hebrews 6:10)

Every act done in faith is recorded and rewarded by Him.

c) God’s delight brings satisfaction (Psalm 147:11)

Life lived for God’s pleasure experiences lasting joy.

d) Integrity attracts blessing (Proverbs 10:9)

Walking in truth and goodness ensures divine recognition.

Biblical Example:

Daniel and his friends were consistent in their integrity and obedience, and God’s approval protected them in Babylon and brought favour from kings (Daniel 1:8-20).

CONCLUSION

God’s repeated declaration of “It was good” teaches us that divine approval is the ultimate measure of value. Alignment with His will brings blessing, favour, and fulfilment. Human standards may fail, but God’s goodness is absolute and unchanging.

This message calls believers to seek God’s sight, live in obedience, and pursue excellence in all areas of life. When God sees your efforts and declares them good, you can be assured of blessing, promotion, and divine satisfaction.
