WHEN FAULT IS FOUND

Luke 4:16-30

Friday at quitting time, Jim said,

‘Boss, have you got any extra work I can do tonight?’

Sure do but I can’t pay you overtime.

That’s okay, I just don’t want to go home.

Why not?

Well, I’ve been in the doghouse since last night.

I see...Why? What did you do to deserve that?

I still don’t know, it must be one of those woman things.

I was minding my own business relaxing in front of the TV.

My wife enters the room & asks, "What’s on the TV?"

And honestly, I swear all I said was, "Dust!"

She’s been mad ever since!

The wife found fault with her husband’s grace & forefeited her companionship.

We also forfeit a great deal when the find fault with God’s grace.

The synagogue of Nazareth despised the grace offered them in Jesus.

Religious people can find fault with God’s grace.

What is forfeited when God’s grace is frustrated?

When fault is found with God’s grace, we forfeit...

HEALING(:18c—N/KJV)

Explanation:(:18c—N/KJV)

“He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted...”

“Brokenhearted”—Broken/Bruised of heart/Afflicted

=Despondent/Dejected/Despairing/Depression/Anxiety/Frustration...

Due to loss brought on by either calamity or sense of sinfulness.

“Heal”—Fix/Repair/Make useful & pain free again.

Argumentation:

Isa. 53:4-5—“Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, & afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.”

2Chron. 7:14—“...if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, & pray & seek My face, & turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, & will forgive their sin & heal their land.”

Isa. 9:6—“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

FREEDOM(:18c)

“...To proclaim liberty to the captives...”

Argumentation:

Gal. 5:1—“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm & do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”

Rom. 7:24-25—“Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!...”

Jn. 8:34-36—“Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. “And the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. “If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”

“Blind”—2 meanings—Both fulfilled in Christ

a)Lost Vision

b)Lost Perception

Argumentation:

Jn. 12:39-40—“Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said .... “He has blinded their eyes & hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts & turn, So that I should heal them.””

2Cor. 4:3-4—“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

A refusal to accept forgiveness thru Christ is blinding.

Eph 4:17-19—“This I say, therefore, & testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.”
