A Liar, A Lunatic, or Lord!
The “Left Behind” writings are based on the Secret Rapture Theory.
This theory makes Jesus out to be either a liar or a lunatic because it disagrees with what the Bible says.
Elements of the lie of the “Secret Rapture” Theory
1) The Christian’s Disappearing Act – Now You See Them/Now You Don’t
LIE –that Christians, dead or alive, will be secretly and silently vanished, leaving the world to wonder
where they all went.
TRUTH-John 5:28-29
“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when ALL who are in their graves will hear his
voice and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil
will rise to be condemned.”
“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and EVERY eye will see him, even those who pierced
him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen!
2) Multiple 2nd Comings-Jesus is coming Again and Again and Again!
LIE- that Jesus will come for the Church secretly, and later come back with the Church for battle,
and later for judgment.
TRUTH- I Thessalonians 4:16-17
“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the
archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we
who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord
in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements
will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.” (consumed, burned up)
3) A 2nd Change after the 2nd Coming-Jesus is a way to Heaven
LIE- that those “left behind” will have another opportunity to be saved.
TRUTH- John 14:6
“Jesus answered, ‘I am The way and The truth and The life. No one comes to the Father except
through me.’”
“I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, Now is the day of salvation.”
2 Peter 3:14-So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to
be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
