*John 12:12-19

12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:?Hosanna!?Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!?

The King of Israel!?Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: ?Fear not, daughter of Zion;

Behold, your King is coming,

Sitting on a donkey?s colt.?

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.

17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. 18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. 19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, ?You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!?

These are the events of our Lord?s last week of ministry;

Sunday?Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem

Monday?Jesus cleanses the temple of the money changers

Tuesday?Controversies with the Jewish leaders

Wednesday?maybe a day of rest

Thursday?Preparation for the Passover and The Lord?s supper is instituted.

Friday?Trial and Crucifixion of Jesus

Saturday?Jesus body rests in the tomb while Jesus descends to the lowest parts of the earth and takes keys of death away from Satan

Sunday?Jesus rises from the dead

The Jewish day went from sundown to sundown, so that our Thursday evening would be their Friday, the Day of Passover.

Palm Sunday was the first day of the last week of Jesus life on earth

1. That He deserves all of the Praise.

If you have a good job, it?s because God gave it to you. HE DESERVES ALL THE PRAISE!

If you have a good family, it?s because of the Lord. HE DESERVES ALL THE PRAISE!

If you have riches. GIVE THE LORD THE PRAISE!

*(verse 12), ?when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out; ?Hosanna!

?Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!?

The King of Israel!?

-They were all saying Blessed be the King, Mark (Mk 11:9, 10)

-?Hosanna in the highest, (?Save us now,?)

-Hosanna in the highest.

? The joyful response of the people to Jesus that first Palm Sunday is a beautiful illustration of praise.

2. That Jesus is coming back, He is not dead.

*(Verse 15), ?Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming? This prophecy is as real to us today as it was 2000 years ago to them.

- This is a picture of how Jesus is coming back, (triumphantly).

3. That He has the power to raise back to life any situation in our lives no matter how dead it may seem.

- If he taries and our mortal bodies die, one day our bodies will be raised from the dead. Jesus has the power to do that and more.

4. That our testimony will bear witness of the power of God and bring others to *(verse 17) ?the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. 18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign.

- When we testify, people will come to him no matter what others say. *(Verse 19)The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, ?You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him anyway!?

5. That is all abou Him, not us.

CONCLUSION;

The donkey awakened, his mind still savoring the afterglow of the most exciting day of his life. Never before had he felt such a rush of pleasure and pride.

He walked into town and found a group of people by the well. "I?ll show myself to them," he thought.

But they didn?t notice him. They went on drawing their water and paid him no attention.

"Throw your garments down," he demanded of them. "Don?t you know who I am?"

They just looked at him in and frouned. Someone slapped him across the tail and ordered him to move.

"Miserable heathens!" he muttered to himself. "I?ll just go to the market where the good people are. They will remember me."

But the same thing happened. No one paid any attention to the donkey as he strutted down the main street in front of the market place.

"The palm branches! Where are the palm branches!" he shouted. "Yesterday, you threw palm branches!"

Hurt and confused, the donkey returned home to his mother.
