'What shall we look forward to when Jesus returns?'

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

I. Now, we are the children of God.

A. It is wonderful now to know Him as a personal saviour but It is going to be better than we can imagine.

II. When will this be?

A. It will happen when Jesus returns for His Church.

1. Who is the church? Those who have called on His Name and received Him.

III. We shall be like Jesus.

A. What will that be like?

1. We will see Him as He is.

2. We shall be like Him.

IV. What kind of body will we have?

A. To know this just read what Jesus looked like and what He did after His resurrection.

1. We shall have the same kind of body.

V. Many people saw the resurrected Christ. They looked on His face, touched Him, heard His voice, and saw Him eat (Matt. 28:16-20; Luke 24:13-39; John 20:11-29; John 21:1-9; Acts 1:6-11; 1 Cor. 15:3-8)

A. This is what we as believers can look forward to a resurrected body like Jesus except for the scars he bore for us..
