Summary: We must know the Lord all else dont matter.
WHAT SHALL A MAN GIVE IN EXCHANGE FOR HIS SOUL
Mark 8: 34And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
36For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Men never think of what they have to gain are lose while in this life.
1. Would you take the world?
1st John 2: 15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
18Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
The world passes away
Love of the things of the world will go with it.
All thing of the flesh will go will pass away
All lust will leave once the Lord takes us
Pride will fall to the grave with man
2. Why trade for wealth ?
Proverbs 9: 4Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
It profited nothing
Can’t spend what you don’t have
Money goes with the wrath of God
Can’t buy life after death
Can’t buy peace after death
3. Not honor for it shall perish
Psalm 49: 12Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
Shall die with man
We are no more than the beast of the field
Honor will at hold in Gods court
We become the least
God alone can deliver the soul of man
Psalm 116: 5Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.
7Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
He alone is the soul’s salvation
Psalm 35: 1Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
3Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
We only have one way to look and that’s to our maker.
